I think that perhaps the money we received from transfers will act as our transfer and wage budget, with the previous transfer budget being kept in reserve for another window, or even going into a different part of the club.
Various different media sources have quoted Ron's war chest and I selected the lowest i've seen which is £70m to help fit with the idea that we could be priced out of buying Rojo where we could go for Virgil or other targets for around half the price. If we signed Rojo, Gardos & Byram for about £30m then I would be very pleased but couple that with the £30m already spent and our requirement for another striker and a winger and you can see why potentially our budget could be stretched

How dumb do we look for selling Chambers? Wenger switches him to CB and he takes to it with apparent ease. Almost a month later and we still can't find a half-decent CB. Chambers will be in the full England squad by the end of the season, and worth £30 million+.
Almost 2 weeks. Surely we knew we were selling a player who would be a full international by the end of this season...but you're right, not at CB.
I've go to agree. I've moved on now so I barely think about the last few weeks but, maybe 8-10 times a day I do wonder why the hell we sold Chambers. 16m for him was such a short sighted sale. Maybe it was him - maybe he just couldn't bear to look at the place where Luke's Bentley used to park.
There's talk of Kommons going somewhere too and now they have a loan CB and a loan wide man... they could be cashing in.
Played for Celtic last night I think. Rumours have gone quiet but think I'd prefer him to Vlaar if we were to get another defender in. Bringing in another would also allow us to play 3-5-2 if needed. I mentioned it yesterday, but I know a villa ITK who said that Vlaar is close to signing a new deal at villa. Im with you though, I would definitely prefer van Dijk anyway. The "younger with potential" is enough to away it for me.
