Would love to be a fly on the GFH wall when they are talking about how Cellino recouped his investment with just 2 player sales
Cellino came out and told us that Ross wasn't for sale and we don't need to sell players ..... he then fell out with Ross and I accept he needed to be sold, but he's not come out and said anything about Sam, which tells me he's selling him. Lets face it folks, Sam has an injury which could affect his long term value if you put your business head on. We were told countless times last season that Sam would now need to arrange his life and training and playing career around this injury (Which is life long and can't be operated on) He has an injury that probably many prem clubs will not allow anyway? I say sell if we can get the cash as we will struggle to get his insurance policy upgraded.
Spot on Doc!!! Bloody spot on, very sensible option, fingers crossed whoever gets him he passes their medical
A lot of people a bit downhearted about selling Sam and losing Dom etc, but lets face some facts: Howson, Delph and Byram were the last of the proper good players to come out of the academy, and we have a few like Mowatt, Dawson, Killock and cook who may make it, but thats it because we haven't invested in the academy and allowed TA to become empty and unused with many staff losing their jobs. Tonight we see an old boy come back after he spent 12-years with us, but was released at 19. We've seen the likes of Ben Parker and Aiden White have a light shone on them only to see them fail to live up to expectations. It's been a long tiime since our academy production line produced quality like we did in the past. Cellino realises that a good academy is the future and will invest in it soon, but be honest with yourselves and accept we are producing average kids now. How long has it taken Delph to establish himself in a poor Villa side? Jonny couldn't get a regular berth in a relegation side.
The Football League interview with Spockaday made me cringe. Banging on about how both he and the president had reviewed players and how he had said no to some of MC's - what a load of cobblers! I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but if we don't get a decent 3-0 victory or better tonight then all my pre-season optimism would have vanished.
Bellusci is a great signing and our first choice, we obviously went back in for him after Cellino witnessed Wotton defending on Saturday, need to get the lad signed up before tonight`s game On Byram yes he is good but for the right money he can go, everyone has their price and £8m-10m will do it
It would appear that the Cooper deal is now back on so lets hope the boy lives up to his fee believed to be 750k Now lets get Agard Sharp and Detort get rid of Hunt Norris white and Fatty Kenny
On Byram if we get £10m the bloke can walk on water for me I would never sign a player who has an history of injuries you are just buying trouble the likes of Michael Owen Andy Carol etc I am delighted that they are going to give Matt Smith a new contract he deserves it
On Byram yes he is good but for the right money he can go, everyone has their price and £8m-10m will do it [/QUOTE] Realistically, before Cellino got that huge fee for Ross, most on here would have valued him at £5m and Byram at less than that.
No way would we get £8m+ for Byram. £4m + games played/sell on clause is the absolute best we could hope for. Just my thoughts.
Afternoon all. Still playing catch up at work. Haven't seen the new away kit yet, I'll see if I can find a pic
