I dont think the club have acted in the correct manner but i understand why they did it. im sure Utrecht would have done exactly the same to us given th chance. It will IMO tarnish our name and standing within the game abroad and long term will probably cost us alot more in money, with clubs demanding fee's up front instead of structured with sell on clause, looks like short term thinking to me . Im sure all will be above board and legal but i wouldn't like it happening to us so i can understand the dutch clubs stance here .
"the resident anti Swansea brigade". There is no such "brigade". Well, not on this forum. There is,however,a "brigade" who constantly wear blinkers, and think that whatever the Club does,is O.K. with them. What this is about,is right and wrong. Have Swansea done the right thing? Have they behaved with integrity, etc.? Based on what I have read,I don't think they have. The same as they didn't behave in the right way when trying to avoid paying Laudrup any compensation,by making scurrilous accusations, and we all know how that turned out. Or was his payout made simply to appease the "anti Swansea brigade"?
I agree Lib. Although we don't know the truth yet this looks like (and will look like to others) sharp practice at work and will damage our reputation. As for Daiswan - his posts get more ridiculous by the day. Does he understand the meaning of the word 'hypocrisy'? Entertaining ramblings though.
So does that mean Gylfi came here for nothing? Now who is blowing hot air. No he came here in an exchange deal. Which has value behind it. May not be in monetary terms, but value none the less. Maybe you should too, before blowing more hot air. Vorm and Siggy may have been used in a swap, just because money does not switch hands, does not mean the players is a free transfer. There is a reason when clubs work out their value, they also include players. Because they are worth something. IT doesn't matter if you pay with cash or players, you are paying with something regardless. Swansea on the other hand are claiming they didn't pay with Vorm that Vorm was a free transfer, which can you really see being the case. Are you telling me that we got £10m worth for Davies, we pay £8m worth for Siggy, yet we give them Vorm to sweeten the deal. No, Vorm was part of the deal, else there would be no point in him going. Vorms inclusion in the deal would have meant he was used as leverage(? coudlnt think of the word i wanted) in the deal, but he is still valued and worth that much, that value came off the deal for Sygi, so he did NOT go for free. His value would have been part of the deal. Put it this way, we want Sygi, they want £8m, we value Vorm at £4m, we say we will give you £4m + Vorm. They agree, Vorm is still worth £4m. As lets make it even simpler. Swansea and Spurs both start off with £10m in their bank accounts. We buy sygi, we give them £8m, we now have £2m left in our account, Spurs now have £18m Spurs buy Vorm, they give us £4m. We now have £6m in our account, Spurs have £14m Now lets do the same with the swap scenario. Both clubs have £10m in their accounts. We buy Sygi who is valued at £8m, and swap him for Vorm + £4m. We now have £6m in our bank account, Spurs now have £14m See how that worked? Vorm is still sold for £4m, we just don't see the cash as its used to get Gylfi for a cheaper rate. It pays part of the fee. So it does NOT make Vorm free, it never has, and never will. And from what we have heard, we as a club could be in trouble,
It also values Ben at £2.5 mn ( I think that's the accepted figure in cash from Spurs on top of the player exchange) which in itself should cause concern. it does for me. I hope we have got it right, but my feeling is FIFA will always side against us because they don't like Welsh clubs playing in the English Pyramid.
I think this "Vorm Manover " is going to to cost us more than we will have saved in fines . No matter what , this will leave a scar ..stupid ....my guess is Vorm and the dutch team were talking behind Huw 's back .. when Huw hatched the deal , he must have thought he pulled a good one on both vorm and his ex club , how could he not know this would happen . What ever happens , Huw will pay extra to keep it guiet .. bets ?
What? That's not how swap deals happen! That's you clutching at straws hoping a lot of words and numbers will make me think you know what you are talking about in the hope I give the anti-Swansea brigade some respect! PS. You heard nothing but drink fuelled rumour.
And no surprise you provide nothing else other than "that's no how it works". Why? Because thats exactly how it works. Its a swap deal, sometimes it includes money too. Why? Because players have their values. Tell you what, if you have a nice big 50" flatscreen tv, ill swap you for my 32" tv, nothing other than a swap, I won't give you any money to go with it, even though its probably worth more, we will just class it as a free swap. Deal?
There is "no anti - Swansea brigade in operation on this forum". There is,however,"an anti common sense, and don't know the difference between right and wrong and couldn't care less how the Club behave brigade".
Disagree on both counts. There are definitely members of the first category (mentioning no names). And when people like me come on and defend the club's actions, it's not burying-head-in-sand, it's called trust. Trust in the club that has risen from 92nd in the league to the Premier League in 8 years. Trust in the chairman who has overseen that transformation. Trust in the man who led us as captain most of that time, and now as manager. Trust that they know more about football in their little finger than all the rest of us put together.
"Disagree on both counts". As you are ,of course, entitled to do. Your opinion is as valid as anyone else's,and I respect it. We will have to disagree however. Just because an individual sees things differently doesn't make them the enemy. I suspect that I am one of "the names you decline to mention". Well, if you think I am,that's fine, since I KNOW WHAT AND WHO I AM,and am not fazed by it. Football is not the most important thing in my life, never has been, and never will be. I think it is more important to have standards of behaviour that represent the individual, and where he comes from. Swansea City F.C. doesn't define who I am. If the Club's actions are indefensible,I won't defend it. Nothing to do with trust, more to do with right and wrong. But hey,we are all different, but some are more different than others.
