No way I'd give my time to go and see someone who couldn't give a rats ass about the club and its fans. **** him. There will be plenty of fan boys there though who just can't see him for what he is. I consider him a leech on the club these days.

My good memories will all be from the 5th place season when he actually knuckled down and gave some stellar performances (he was well managed and listened to Pardew).

All this "if you just give him a free role" bollocks is archaic. There is no such thing in modern football, certainly not at the top level. As for how KK and Bobby would have handled him. Depends if you are talking then or now as the game is a different animal from the 90's when we had Ginola doing is stuff. Both were pretty smart managers and would have adapted to the needs of now, Bobby in particular. Bobby had to cajol Robert into putting in more effort, he was no where near as lazy as HBA. He dropped him for it on a few occasions and made public remarks. Viana was one who wanted that free role which didn't exist, Bobby wouldn't entertain it. Basically HBA would have had to fall in line and work. He may have had more respect for KK or Bobby though, so perhaps they'd have got more from him. No guarantees though, this is not his first time at the unrofessional rodeo afterall!

Is this true this is his own meet and greet he's organised? It is amusing that he has organised his meet up on the same day as the clubs open training session as if to point out how unprofessional he is and how he thinks he is bigger than the club. What an absolute **** this kid is.

Watching that it's a travesty that we can't find a space in our team for a man of such talent. I personally would build the team around him like a lot of international teams do when they only have one world class player. I know he can be lacklustre in tracking back so don't ask him to, play a team that doesn't need him to. To quote the commentators, when we needed inspiration up stepped Ben Arfa, who is ready to take over that in our current team? Aarons looks good but is too inexperienced to be expected to be a consistent match winner, Cabella however classy is untried in this league, De Jong....injured already apparently doesn't bode well! but may come good. Then we move onto the likes of Obertan.... Having said that we are looking stronger overall than last year, Janmaat is equal to Debuchy and we have signed some strikers (AT LAST) even if they aren't proven, I quite like the look of Riviere, think he'll do a job for us. Hoping for a good season, just wish that we could have Ben Arfa in the mix to keep the opposition on their toes!

    Hat's off....

A message from the Back Page:

It is with great regret that we must announce that the planned appearance of Hatem Ben Arfa at The Back Page shop later today has been cancelled.

Since accepting the invitation last week, it has become increasingly clear that Hatem will be excluded from the training day event at St.James' Park today.

In light of the increasing media circus that news has prompted, both the Back Page and Hatem agree that staging the event would be counter-productive and cancellation is the most logical course of action.

Hatem sends his apologies and is saddened that he's unable to meet supporters at this time.

The shop remains open as usual today and we look forward to seeing many fans after they've visited SJP.

Looks like Fat Mike has 'had a word' with Hatem.... probably some obscure clause in his contract precluding him from carrying out any activity whilst an employee which might jeapoardise the club's image/standing.

Amazing what the fear of losing money does to the modern footballer!

Ben Arfa is a much luxury player. He is a big talent yes but he does not do team playing or defend well. He is one year left of his contract so I think he will sell instead of leave for free but who will give his big wage for him to sulk?

Well if we aint going to sell him, we might as well get the best out of him, but under Pardew that's not gonna happen. All he requires is a bit of man management, but Pardew is a **** and can't work with people who need coaching.

My opinion is either sell him, or play him. Don't leave him in the reserves and waste 50k a week in wages.

Have you seen a queue of clubs with wads of cash wanting him, as for playing him didn't we try that last season, that went well, as for the man management bollocks there are just some people that no matter how you treat them they are twats, in my world I sack them, football you have to take their piss to an extent because they are a financial commodity. I am also pretty sure that Ashley has said **** him more so than Pardew, cause it's his money HBA is sitting on his arse and taking.

I don't rate Pardew all that highly but to suggest he can't deal with players who need coaching is silly. Willo, Cabaye, Perch, HBA himself for example all improved under his guidance. I would agree that he maybe doesn't deal with unprofessional huffy ****s the way say someone like Redknapp would. However he is no different from many other managers in that regard. The likes of Mourinho, SAF, Van Gaal, Ancelotti all suffer no fools. Its their way or the highway - and so it should be. Pardew is no where near the managers those guys are of course, but its silly to use that as an excuse for twatty players.

Its quite simple with HBA, fall in line or **** off. If we could sell him I'm sure we would. The problem is that problematic players like him don't have a lot of suitors. Throw in his wages and they are running for the hills. It kinda tells its own story. If there are no takers, its not Pardew who needs to back down, its HBA. He needs to be a man and apologise for his behaviour, accept his fine, get his nut down and graft his way back in.I've said it before, you can't have the tail wagging the dog. The minute you cave and allow ****s like him to undermine you, you'll have anarchy. This is a professional football club, not a playground.

Some one mentioned Sir Bobby a while back in connection with HBA.

There is no question Sir Bobby was a better man manager than Pardew and might have got more out of HBA. There is also no question that Sir Bobby would not have put up with the **** HBA has been producing lately. You just have to remember the treatment Solano received when SBR felt he wasn't responding fully to what was being asked of him to see how much crap he was willing to take from his players and that he was willing to send them to the reserves if they didn't toe the line.

You can fault Pardew with not being any better at getting a solid working week out of HBA than any of his other managers have been, but that is about all.
