What's BR thinking when it comes to signing a Forward?

What's BR thinking when it comes to signing a FW?

  1. I'm looking to sign a class FW only. If not able to, won't sign one.

  2. Got the cash - could sign anyone below 40m. Will for sure get one in by end of window.

  3. Will sign a decent FW; it's just that Remy wasn't in good shape.

  4. Not too bothered. I have faith in Sturridge, Sterling, Lambert and Borini.

  5. Borini refuses to leave - that ties my hands. Can't sign a fifth.

  6. It's a matter of cash. FSG tells me 'Sell >15m, before you can buy again'.

Get into BR's mindset for a moment, and let us know what he thinks.

I think he's after the player who he believes will fit the team, rather than looking at 'world class' options or big money ones. His top targets were Bony or Remy and given we'd just received a tonne from selling Suarez, that's clearly who he feels would fit better.

We've got plenty of money available to him - Suarez and Reina cleared a huge lump off our profit/loss pages - but I think we'll go for Bony and match their demands in the last week. Not my pick, but if Rodgers wants him, I'm fine with that.

After Sanchez rejecting us for 'geography' reasons I think BR has finally seen that we still aren't attracting 'big names' [yet] so back to the blueprint - young, flexible, no big wage demands ....

Who knows... I think he's got "x" amount left- and wants to spend it on someone good- I think he's haggling around to find the best price he can get from various strikers...

... or rather Ian Ayre is. If we can't get anyone world class for a reasonable value- they're not going to blow the budget, they'll buy someone less good.

Borini won't leave until we have someone else lined up. If we signed someone decent he will have to realise he is going to have a sore bottom from sitting on the bench so much.

    I disagree with this.

I also think had Sanchez signed we'd still not a proper striker.

Your Johnson, I'm Flanagan. We compete for the same position.

That Rodgers hasnt excepted that we cant attract that level of talent.

I think we are really pushing hard to get value for money.

My username isn't about Glen ... but I like your analogy <ok>

I really don't think we are yet able to attract the big names - otherwise we'd have signed one ...

that's why, any club can get most players if they pay the greedy ****s enough.

anyone know if we are still doing our performance related contracts?

a lot of players don't like them now days as it involves effort!!

Take your point - but as an example we offered Sanchez more than Arsenal, yet he still chose them.

    1. we only signed markovic AFTER sanchez was proved to be impossible. thats a direct one for one

    2. I honestly think borini deal is down to borini nobody else and remy was going to be done anyway so I can't see borini holding up anything

    3. I honestly don't think any thus far quoted names suit the style. I don't know who we will end up with but i expect that it will be someone most akin to sturridge than bony... i mean seriously its like saying ok welbeck is muck but he's more the player than a bony type who's static.

    2. I don't think Borini wants to move and I don't blame him with CL football on offer, he's bound to see some real play time with us competing on four fronts. We haven't had the chance yet to see the 'really exciting player' BR promised us, maybe this year could be his year!

    will he?

I think only injury would allow him to play.

I mean if he had shown ability to really play centrally maybe but the wide forwards slots are gone...

I think we've shown before that if we miss our target we don't mind ending the window empty-handed, e.g. Dempsey, Konoplyanka

So I've gone for option 1

Doesn't look like we're going to get one at this rate.

If we don't I think its a mistake.
