Take our money back though, absolutely. If they were to go to £10million I'd give him a lift down, would even take the nice motor, haha.
He's gone now. No coming back after this. Dislike the boy to be honest, pleased to see the back of him. He's scored half a dozen goals for us in his time here, no cause to be holding us to ransom.
I'd rather keep him until we have a replacement tbh ......... he'll still fetch good money in January.
Lets be fair mate, as we stand, he hasn't asked to leave and we don't know what his contract offer is. Sky are brilliant with football coverage, but they are as bad as ANYONE for speculation and wrong calls. Gus has always been quite open about the goings on with players, and he hasn't followed up on Wickham, I don't think the situation has changed massively, just a bid gone in, not Connor's fault that.
When the club says he`s been offered a new contract, wage rise etc and either accepted or refused, then we`ll know. Until then it`s still all guessing games.
I could be wrong but I don't like that his old man is getting involved by tweeting disparaging stuff about what Gus says. Think he's on his way. Not fussed.
Borini deal is dragging on far too long. maybe time for all parties to move on. My worry is that there doesn't seem to be that much striker talent on the market at the moment, so Gus has little option but to hang on to the bitter end for this deal.
The club needs to get Wickham to sign a new deal, bottom line. We would never find a replacement and he still has the potential to get better and command a big transfer in future. Add to that West Ham are arguably a relegation rival who we would be strengthening. It would be typical Sunderland to flog him for less than we paid for him and he flourishes at West Ham so its not worth the risk unless Wets Ham are offering £16M plus.
