Louis van Gaal has informed five first-team stars that they have no Manchester United futures in face-to-face meetings over the weekend. The Mail reports that Red Devils quintet Marouane Fellaini, Javier Hernandez, Rafael, Nani and Anderson have all been instructed to find new clubs before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Van Gaal met each player individually between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday to break the news, though Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa has survived the cull for the time being and will be United's third choice No 10 this season - behind Juan Mata and new signing Ander Herrera. The Dutchman wanted to see the players up close during their pre-season tour of the United States - which ended in International Champions Cup success - before making his final decision on their futures. But despite United's fine form across the pond, the 62-year-old is still keen to overhaul the side which slumped to a seventh-place finish last season. The Reds kick-off their Premier League campaign against Swansea in six days time and van Gaal has prioritised bringing in a new centre-back, having missed out on Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona. Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, though Ajax star Daley Blind is another reported target, with van Gaal thought to prefer a left-footer.
I'd have Fellaini always looked excellent for Everton. I'm sure the wages any of the above would be expecting would be well out of our league.
All the top clubs, plus Spurs will be offloading over the next couple of weeks .... Dawson, Kaboul & Chadli are probably surplus to requirements. I'd imagine we'd pick up at least one player from those clubs.
Wonder what a team like Man U, pays the likes of, , Hernandez, Rafael, Nani and Anderson. Bet it ain't peanuts, wouldn't like to guess what a massive business like that would pay. What do you reckon?
TBH I reckon United have been able to pay lower wages, over the last few years, to incoming players. I'm sure the likes of Hernandez would accept less money for the chance of trophies. That will have changed now United have lost that bit of glamour.
I thought that Fellani was mooted be be going to Napoli, but as everyone has stated above I would have any of them.
Fellaini, Hernandez and Nani in particular would be dynamite for us. Rafael would be very very solid, but I'm not that big on Anderson. Surely there's a bit of a queue for these guys.
Personally think Rafael is comical. Fellaini, Nani and Chicharito will be sought after by teams in Europe. Fellaini would be great for us but we'd have next to no chance
This is why it's wise to hold out in the Transfer Market a bit. Bide your time and good players become available. I'd take Hernandez and Fellaini. Fallaini looked decent away from his holding role at the World Cup.
