Huddlestone was a far better signing , only age lets him down not really a fat lot you can do about getting older ! Wouldn't be that excited about him signing
Not true. We're in talks but no fee agreed as of yet. Rumours Esteban Cambiasso is having a medical in the morning
Cambiasso will be a better signing off the pitch than on it. Will improve players like Drinkwater through helping them in training and other day to day activities.
And much better then Dean Hammond who is our defensive midfielder at the minute and even now he will have a lot to offer. Look at Steven Gerrard now, despite his lack of mobility he was still the best midfielder in the prem last season Cambiasso in a similar role could be the difference for us. He was he best defensive midfielder in the world not long ago
I disagree with the best defensive midfielder in the world comment. There has always been a few players better than him. Yes he was good, but not the best in his field of work.
I agree with most of that bar the final sentence. He was good, but there have been better than him throughout his career.
I don't know. A lot of people confuse deep playmakers like Gerrard with proper defensive midfielders like Macherano, whose job it is to break up play and give it to the playmakers. Cambiasso was unbelievably good at this in and around the time that Inter won the Champions League. He protected the back four and really helped Sneijder play the best football of his career. One of the best since the great Makélélé.
I'm not confusing him with players like Gerrard and Makelele was the main player I was thinking of. I'd love to see a player like him in the Prem again. I thought Diarra at Arsenal was a carbon copy of him, but it didn't work out.
Why? If you get more than half the games out of Cambiasso that we did out of Thudd you'll be lucky. It's a good signing if it all comes off, don't get me wrong, but we took a player who's proven at this level (for a very good price too) and he thrived. I'd say he was our most important signing last Summer. It's a ridiculous comment to make, especially given that in hindsight it's clear that he was a pivotal figure in all we accomplished last season. Are you telling me that an ageing Cambiasso will make more of a difference to Leicester City than Huddlestone did for us last season? If I was to liken it to any signing we made, it'd probably be Okocha.
I'm talking about their primes and Makelele's prime was around 2004 whereas Cambiasso's was about 2009.
Because he's free, on cheaper wages and a better player. I am saying that Cambiasso will have a bigger impact on Leicester City than Huddlestone did for Hull. Maybe not all of it being on the pitch, as Macca rightly suggested. He'll bring James and Drinkwater to the next level.
Hasn't Cambiasso been offered a two-year deal worth £5M, that's around 48K-a-week isn't it? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm interested.
They are giving him a signing bonus and then a salary to structure it in a way that does not break their 30k a week salary cap. Its basically the same thing.
He might boost shirt sales a bit and maybe teach the youngsters a thing or two, but I honestly can't see why he'd make more of a difference than our own marquee signing did last year. We sold loads of Huddlestone shirts and he's helped Jake Livermore no end. And he was a better player, whether or not he still is remains to be seen. Tom is a hell of a footballer, he's one of the best passers of the ball I've ever seen and I don't think you'll have anybody in your squad who can knock a ball about like him. We paid for proven Premier League quality and pretty much anchored our team (and our play) around him. He's already vice-captain and I think he'll be here for some time to come. He made an enourmous difference to our season, plus chipped in with vital goals along the way, something he wasn't normally noted for. Like I said, if he still has it in his locker then it's a great signing, but you're saying Cambiasso would be better based on (by the sounds of it) nothing other than the fact that he's come from Inter and was a class player. You don't know if he still is, how he'll perform in a league he's never played in, with players he's probably never even heard of, Ulloa aside perhaps. We didn't have that gamble with Tom, he'd already established himself as a PL player, an England international and a footballer with a good reputation. Would I take him over an ageing superstar who's never kicked a ball in the PL? Every day of the week.
I really don't get why Leicester are so excited over this , what you really should be asking is why are Milan not keen to keep him ? Why didn't he make the World Cup squad ? Why are only Leicester and qpr after him ?
