This may have been asked before but thought I'd ask anyway, I read we can only name 21 players as we have no kids who have been with us long enough to be classed as our academy products, correct if I'm wrong with terminology. However, is there literally no kids we can put in, even if they have no chance of first team football just to make up the numbers? I'm just thinking of Jahraldo Martin & Max Clark as 2 off the top of my head.
It's irrelevant really, as players under the age of 21 (or at 21, depending on date of birth) don't have to be registered on the main list of 25 as long as they've been with the club for 2 years or longer. They still have to be named, but that's on a separate B list with unlimited spaces and can be added to at any point in the season. Clark would be able to play off the B list, and I think Jahraldo would now too. The main A list is to register the senior players, and anyone under 21 who's not been with us for 2 years yet. That means even though Maguire and Robertson are both young enough to be put on the B list, because they've just signed they'll need to use 2 spaces off the limited A list to be registered to play. Essentially we just have to leave 4 empty spaces on the 25-man A list, as we have no senior player who came through our youth system at the moment.
So Robertson and Maguire are likely no registered players due to age then? Suppose that gives us 23 players at least Edit: Nevermind I fully read it
Just to try to simplfy things, here's the breakdown. List A: maximum 25 players -Anyone born before 1st January 1992 -Anyone born on or after 1st January 1992 but who hasn't been at the club for 2+ years -Must include min. 8 players who spent 3 years at English clubs between the ages of 15-21 (local players) --Of those 8 local players, a min. 4 must have spent 3 years at City from 15-21 (club-grown local players) ---If a club doesn't have sufficient local players we have to leave open spaces. ---Has specific registration time limits for different stages. List B: Unlimited -Anyone born on or after 1st January 1992 and been at the club for 2+ years. -Can be added to at any point through the season. As most of our squad are British we have more than 8 local players but we have no one club-trained in our senior squad so are at 0/4 for that requirement. That means we have to leave 4 spaces and our 25-man A list is reduced to 21. We could name 4 youths who've been here 2+ years, but as they'll be on the B list and can play anyway it wouldn't make any difference.
