For ****'s sake! I was on the train and obviously missed the creative predictive text - I meant Scunthorpe.
Turning 60 has it's advantages, Uber - free travel in London and a half-price season ticket are not to be sniffed at. Are you jealous?
Exceedingly. [I'm only joshing with you, Stroller. I have grown to rather like you in a bizarre, digital way]
Sadly mate I work for a US company which has deals with US carriers. When I book on our travel website BA rarely features and when it does is usually way more expensive and classed as 'out of policy'. Plus a couple of months ago I got a message saying 'you haven't flown with us for 3 years, book another flight or you will lose all your (useless) Avios points'. I replied with 'perhaps you should be asking me why I don't fly with you rather than threatening me with the virtual equivalent of a dead fish' the response was 'that's not our area, we just look after the rewards programme'. In the spirit of this thread, my mental rejoinder was 'f** you then'. T2 baggage reclaim looked clear as I strolled through with my little bag, but immigration was empty so obviously not many flights arriving around midday today. The mini cab drivers hate it though - they get photographed and fined for picking up at the the departures drop off, have to pay £3 for 10 minutes in short stay, which is not signposted anywhere in the terminal, so their customers struggle to find it, racking the price up to £9 if they are in there for 11 minutes.
Of course sometimes swearing is absolutely essential to the drama, and cripplingly funny, like the below or Withnail and I. "Monty, you terrible c**t!"
For me the swearing on TV has become normal. The last thing that came close to shocking me was deadwood, and that was mostly because it had lovejoy using the f and c word liberally! I find more concerning the number of rapes and attack that have become the norm for soaps! Some of the stuff Mrs badger watches is full of violence and abuse that's on well before the watershed!
Have to say that I swear as much as the next person but I can see no reason for the C word being used in any circumstance in real life or on TV, there are far more alternative words that could be used......
Didnt say that. However kids of his age are very aware of what is 'naughty' or 'rude', and will generally push the boundaries as far as they can. In my opinion, I'm thinking that those boundaries will be very unclear for him. What happens when he starts using the F and C words in front of people, or directed at you or your wife? How will you tell him off, when he's being shown that it's funny to use that language? Just wondering, that's all...
Feature films and choice different matter IMO TV will never get close to this because it's full of cnuts
As well as on tv there's an awful lot of language in todays video games. My boys are too young for them yet but a lot of ny friends with older kids don't seem to think twice about them playing an 18 cert game (all their friends are playing them so they must be ok,right?) but they wouldn't put them in front of an 18 cert film. The video clips in call of duty and the like are peppered with the F word and that's before you get started inflicting violent and grisly death on your enemies. I think the effect of these games on younger kids is not to be underestimated
There is a lot of disgusting stuff wriiten on here as well, why the mods allowed a thread entitled "SWP – A masterstroke" is beyond me.
when he started that he got the back of my hand didn't like doing it but it stopped pretty quick they pick up more at school than anywhere else
