So the new season is finally upon us and City travel to The Molineux which is undoubtedly their 'bogey' ground having won there only once in twenty-four competitive fixtures. That was way back in September 1995 where they were 2-0 victors. For City fans the most memorable game at The Molineux must surely be the 0-1 defeat in the second leg of the League Division One play-off semi-final in May 2002.
This result of course meant that City won the two legged affair 3-2 on aggregate to reach the Final. It was however to end in tears at The Millennium Stadium Cardiff where City lost on penalties to Birmingham City the match finishing 1-1 after extra time.

Wolves' biggest win over City came in January 1998 where they thrashed the visitors 5-0

City's largest victory and also the highest aggregate score between the two sides was in October 2008, City running out 5-2 winners.

In combined League and Cup games, City and Wolves have faced each other 24 times home and away.

At The Molineux:

Wolves 17 wins
City 1 win
Draws 6

At Carrow Road:

City 9 Wins
Wolves 8 wins
Draws 7

Not good stats if you're a City fan but as they say “records are there to be broken”

So what connections are there between the two clubs if any ? Well not too many to speak of but notable players to have turned out for both sides are Seb Bassong, Andrew Surman, Iwan Roberts, and Hugh Curran. Current City winger Elliot Bennett also turned out in 'old gold' but was restricted to a few Cup games.

Former City 'uitilty' player Sammy Chung was assistant to Bill McGarry at The Molineux when they guided Wolves to League Cup victory at Wembley in 1974. Co-incidently the same management team had previously won the old Second Division title with Ipswich Town in 1968 taking the Blues back up to the top flight.

One infamous event happened at The Molineux in December 1998 where a horror tackle from a certain Mr Kevin Muscat quite possibly put an end to Craig Bellamy's career at City, he was transferred to Coventry City not long after for £6M a large fee at the time.

City's Craig Bellamy writhes in agony after being pole-axed by Kevin Muscat

If City have any real aspirations of making a swift return to the Barclays Premier League, this is a match that they should be looking to take at least a point from regardless of their hitherto dreadful record in this fixture. Wolves have just been promoted from the third tier and City really should be too strong for them in all departments having retained the services of their better players since relegation last term.

Hey Sports Fans! Welcome to the CanariesSoccer Match Center, Live from The Wolves Lair.

-------------------------

Hey There Sports Fans, and welcome to the CanariesSoccer Match Center for Canaries @ Wolves. Canaries begin their SBC campaign versus a Wolves Franchise freshly promoted from the SBL1. Having enjoyed a successful pre-season game series playing the likes of North-West-Italy-Sunday-League-Select-XI (alongside some actual football teams) Canaries will be looking to start their SBC series with a convincing victory as they target a straight promotion back to the EPL.

Coach Adams: “When you're at a club of this size, with the amount of following we've got and the amount of season tickets that we sell year in, year out, you should have that pressure. We should expect to be up there"

Canaries will be without star midfield-linesman R. Snodgrass who has left Canaries for EPL Franchise Hull Tigers, and will also be without nice-but-rubbish Score-Attempt-Converter R. V. Wolfswinkel. Coach Adams has worked hard to strengthen his depth charts during the off-season and looks likely to start freshmen S-A-C's L. Grabban and K. Lafferty, the former having converted an impressive 22 touchdowns last ballgame-series.

For Wolves, this matchup represents a real test to see whether Coach Jackett's inter-series draft picks are up to the test posed by the SBC. Having won the SBL1 comfortably, they appear to be best placed of the freshman-franchises to retain their SBC status and potentially challenge for back-to-back promotions.

Coach Jackett: "These are the games we want. We want to be in these games, testing ourselves – and we do early on. We’ve got some really good games. It is a terrific opening game, live on television. There will also be huge interest because of what happened to the clubs in recent seasons and seeing where they are in this new season and what standard they are at."

This ballgame will present an added challenge for both Franchises as it is a traditional divisional-rivalry, with both teams looking to start their series well this added dynamic should provide an entertaining matchup

This sure is going to be a great Soccer matchup, so fill up your Coca-Cola™ tankards, get your hot-dogs and grab a seat for this smash-and-grab matchup, brought to you exclusively on Not606!

Maybe you can merge the 2 threads Dave? Otherwise it`s going to be too confusing and the work put in will be wasted.
