As much as I like Townsend I think 10 million would be better be spent on a striker.

Even if Remy stays, if he gets injured like he did last time we had him for a few weeks, we only have Austin (unproven) and Zamora (bench player only).

We don't seem to be getting linked with strikers at the moment (the ones we have been linked with seems to have fallen through) and that was our problem last year, depending on Zamora and Johnson. I hope we learnt our lesson, it is the one issue that could cause us problems in my view if we haven't.

Apparently, Milan are coming back for Taarabt but are only willing to pay £4m. In my opinion, they can sod off.

In answer to your question, I think we should use that money (or less) to get two strikers in, one proven and one up and coming.

Just had a thought about this - and I wonder if anyone else feels the same....

The way Hoilett has been playing in pre-season, do you think he's trying to position himself as a striking option in the Defoe mould? Small, quick, making darting diagonal runs and finishing well (his two goals against Shamrock Rovers were both well taken). Adding him to the Zamore/Austin/Remy list seems sensible, especially given that wingbacks will most likely be Simpson/Isla on one side, and Traore/Yun on the other. And I'm not sure where to put Phillips - would he be a striker or an attacking midfielder?

Townsend is someone I rate highly, and £10m for him sounds like a bargain, he's someone whose value is on the up. So if possible, I'd get him at that price, adding him as someone who can play anywhere along the middle of the park or pushed further forward.

Big danger is Remy disappearing on deadline day leaving us f*cked. I think we must bring in a quality striker at least plus a creative midfielder/No.10...

If Remy leaves on deadline day and we have not secured a decent striker then I don't think QPR have fully learnt, I'm sure they/we have learnt. Would prefer we offer Remy another 20k to stay at least until Jan with his goals along with Austins we could have enough points on the board to feel confident on staying up
