Been thinking for a while now that its a waste of time getting the Chron as most articles seem to be recycled drivel and out of touch with what's really happening.

My initial view is that it's reflective of a different (and less open) relationship with the club but does anyone else have any theories?

I buy it out of habit. Gibbo is a genuine fan and I have a lot of time for him, at least he goes to the game and doesn't do his stories after watching highlights on MOTD.

I'm not too interested in all the garbage that goes on behind closed doors because only the people behind closed doors really know what's said there.

I'm probably wrong, but did they not used to get their stories by being all chummy with FFS?

Anal Oliver went to the People, that's why you'll notice the dross that sometimes appears from that pathetic newspaper!

I've lived quite a number of places and, without doubt, the Chronicle is by far the worst 'newspaper' I've read anywhere. I struggle to find any 'news' in that rag at all. The paper became a propaganda mouthpiece for John Hall at the outset of his hostile takeover bid in 1988 (I imagine some people at the Chronicle did rather well from that), and then continued to support Halls/Shepherd afterward. A daily newspaper, without competition, that's so relaxed with facts, so lazy/incompetent in it's approach and so damned unbalanced in its reporting has been a local scandal for decades. Needless to say I don't buy it, and I really hope its readership plummets to the point of closure, takeover or a radical overhaul of its philosophy and staff.
The Journal, on the other hand, is a decent read...

Gibbo and Moncur's articles are always decent reads. Don't care much for SuperMacs though.
