?? Just googled 'Ireland's premier Seaside Town' and sadly it wasn't mentioned until the 2nd page, trotting behind Youghal, Bundoran and Portrush I'm afraid......
To be honest Dave, it did sadden me a bit 'cos I did, maybe a naively, expect the pier to be a bit more of a 'historical' trip. I must say, as in my OP, the 'Brighton Sealife Centre' is a whole lot better. When you walk in you can imagine the 'Victorian wonderment' and architecture. A tad expensive but well worth a visit.

IMO Ireland is a jewel of this planet ... I miss it very much as haven't been over for two years now. IMO the best people on the planet. My mate Pat has just purchased back in his homeland and moving away from France ( too hot for him after 12 years) and i can fully understand
Me too, I happen to live close-ish to Bundoran, good beaches and views, but the town??!! 'Best seen from the rear window of a bus as it races quickly through' as the Lonely Planet described it a couple of years ago...

I was fortunate to spend three months living in a converted coach-house about 200 yards away from the beach at Woodstown just outside Waterford back in the 70s, that was one of the best beaches I've seen anywhere and I often strolled down there first thing in the morning and had the entire beach to myself and our Yorkie...
