The clause in his contract "allows him to talk to other teams", it doesn't oblige us to let him go. I'm 100% with Huw Jenkins on this. To be honest the best deal for everyone here is for Taylor to eat an enormous pile of humble pie and knuckle down to the next season with the swans. I sat thus because: - he's still a young lad with a lot to learn. Swans fans will be much more patient (after hopefully at least some measure of disdain to teach him a lesson in humility) - he'll get full-on game time here, not just a (padded) seat on the bench - if he plays well for us for a few seasons, who knows he might be able to go to a big club when he's more ready for it - it will stop his parasitic agent from scraping money out of the situation like a blood-sucking leech
There is no release fee that's why it's been turned down, the million clause just gives permission to speak to other clubs I believe , if you want him you would to increase the fee significantly, and then he'll be a good bench warmer
Is he really that bad? I personally don't want him, we have money to spend(if MA wasn't such a ****) and I think this would be a huge step down from the class Enrique.
And another thing: Huw, get Ferrie Bodde to have a word in Taylor's ear. We saw all this a few seasons ago when Derby tried to sign Bodde. Huw said no, no, and thrice times no. Bodde eventually agreed to stay at the Swans and was welcomed back with open arms as a bona-fide Jack b*****d. Taylor would be well advised to do likewise...
yes i remember derby tried to bully us in much the same way he kept telling the press swansea are being unresonable well done hj for putting these bullies in thier place
Sounds like the story in the Mirror was made up by either Newcastle or the agent in order to unsettle the player and make Swans want to get rid of him. Sounds like HJ might have spoken to him and sorted everything out. I also don't think it's a coincidence that this story and the Ipswich one appeared when HJ was on holiday. He's back to work and sorted both out the first day. So silly season is over.
It's not that he's a bad player (aimed at any Toon fans wondering), but he's not the finished article yet. Plenty of potential, but what has annoyed us is his silence/willingness to sod off 12 months after joining the club that give him his big break. Sadly it's probably more a personification of modern footballers lack of loyalty and greed more than anything else.
Huw Jenkins talked to Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning; Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, he said: “We’re going to try and do that [keep Taylor at Swansea]. “We bought Neil in last year from Wrexham in the Conference and he’s done very well in the Championship in his first season. “I believe the time is wrong for him to move on at the moment though. “You’d think that he’s got more chance of playing games in the Premier League for us than trying to compete for a place at Newcastle”Huw Jenkins “I wouldn’t deprive any player of moving on if he felt it was the right time for the club and the player, that’s part and parcel of the game these days. “He’s such a young lad though and it’s about playing games. "You’d think that he’s got more chance of playing games in the Premier League for us than trying to compete for a place at Newcastle. “As things stand though we’ve turned down their initial offer so we’ll go from there.” Decent enough thing to say I guess. Wonder what's going through Taylors head about now?
i dont care what happens to tailor, he can go he can stay as he will struggle in the premiership whoever he is with at this present time, with a good manager he has the potential but right now nah not in a million years, you see it all the time players join a premiership club and are not ready, scotland, gomez, chopra, and many many others have tried and failed and tailor has no chance. it takes time to develop into a top class player and tailor has only just come from non league, he has time on his side so there is no rush for the lad, learn first and not jump to soon as it could ruin his future. he can become a realy good left back in a few years or he can blow it now and never reach the top......do whatever i dont care...
I could dig up a list of players to come from non-league to star on the top stage, but I need to go do work, and the only person I can think of is Ian Wright... but Taylor can easily become a solid Premiership LB. A bit of defensive coaching from a quality LB and he'll be fine.
there wont be many who have done it, there will be the odd exceptions but tailor wont be one of them he makes to many mistakes and nearly cost us a premiership place. he will struggle with us let alone the toon until he learns his trade,
Well Huw seems to be handling the issue well, regarding Taylor, don't you think Dai!................ please log in to view this image
I for one think we should be taking the money. We dont even know if he will be good enough. Sell on clause in case he is. I feel we can sign someone for similar money who is ready to play in the premier.
what's everyone's thoughts on the latest?? I would like to think that we would not be bullied around by any club.... If it's true that he wants to go that bad then what good is it keeping him??? Is this just media spin or do you think it's all true????
I think there is some truth in it and i don't want any player who wants away so an improved offer from Newcastle might just get him.
Renegotiate with Newcastle & make a bit of quick money , it's best for all concerned ... especially us . 1,750,000 for Taylor plus another million buys a proven Premier League defender & let Castle take the chances on Taylor
