There's more chatter about this bloke at the monute.
Apparently we bid for him last summer but he said he wanted to stay at Marseille... now apparently Marseille are looking to broker a deal.
A figure of up to £7m seems to be the favoured figure in Twitterland....

I'd prefer us to start investing at the back!

This one sounds like a non starter to me. No way would we pay £7M for a 28 year old winger, who won't be available during ACON.

Hmmm. I got it wrong with 28, but this is what the BBC Transfers/Sports Day Updates said:

Marseille striker Andre Ayew wants a move to Liverpool on the back of his successful World Cup campaign with Ghana according to French newspaper L'Equipe.
The 27-year-old's wages of around £55,000 a week have reduced the chances of a move, although the paper adds that he would reconsider a switch to Newcastle who showed interest last season.

Have merged the two threads Tasty and tried to get my earlier one to go into yours so yours is the source thread. It's kept your title but oddly tagged me as the originator.. odd.
Anyhow... hope this is true like.
He's meant to be a beast of a winger.

Can he play at centre back? I'm getting concerned at our lack of rumours in players since the hint of a rumour about Dier.

It is a little concerning that we are looking for forward type players when it is clearly a priority that we get defensive minded players. He is a good player mind and one we shouldnt miss out on but we do need defensive reinforcements.

Good player, but we seem to have a lot of attacking midfielders yet we still have players like Steven Taylor and Santon at the back. Would rather improve the defence first then look at players like Ayew.

There's no way this Dijk is any better than the massive Dijk we already have as number 27 in our squad.

We could be going keegan esque with s mentality of we'll score one more than you. wouldn't be a bad thing I suppose as long as we get a main striker

I think it'll be similar, though slightly different mentality of "no matter how many we score, that defense will concede at least one more. We get 4, you'll get 5."

Seriously good player. I watched a fair bit of Marseille when Barton was there, he stood out like ACS's arse in Fenwicks window. Worth noting too that this assertion of him being a winger is slightly misleading. He plays a fair bit as a ball playing midfielder/creator. Similar role to Grenier though plays it in a more driven explosive manner. He can pick a pass though. He is versatile and can play wide or off a front man.

I'd still be surprised to see him. I think we need more of a Grenier who can slow the game to his pace and then release the quicker players we have. Grenier can be like a conductor from the middle from what I've seen of him.

I'm still massively worried about us at centre back and left back. We can probably get away with left back with Santon or Haidara. Our centre halfs worry me. I can see us thinking that increasing our attacking prowess will lessen the burden on our defence. It will. I still think we our best suited to counter attack with what we have and therefore you need to be rock solid. Tiote gives the ball away a fair bit in bad areas and we are sloppy at centre back.
