Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeicel has completed his transfer from Leeds to Leicester. The Foxes had a bid - reported to be in the region of £1.5million - accepted last week. The move has now been finalised but the fee is undisclosed. The Denmark Under 21 international has signed a three-year deal at the Walkers Stadium. The 24-year-old will link up with Sven Goran Eriksson, his former manager at both Notts County and Manchester City. Leicester's football director Andrew Neville said: "Sven knows Kasper extremely well and regards him very highly, so we're delighted to have brought him to the club. "He's already made a big impression both domestically and internationally and is another player at a good age for our long-term objectives." Schmeichel still had a year left on his contract at Elland Road and had not been seeking a move away from the club, going as far as to express his surprise when he discovered Leicester's bid had been accepted. He made 40 appearances for Leeds after moving from Meadow Lane last summer. He joins midfielder Neil Danns and defender Lee Peltier as Eriksson's recruits so far this summer. please log in to view this image
So now we have a GK, a DEF, a MID, all that´s missing is a FOR... Nugent, Makel-Smith or Maynard anyone ???
Take care of Kasper, he's a top class keeper who will one day play in the premiership. Thanks Uncle Ken, manage to push away another top class player with threats and dodgy transfer policy.
At the mo the jury is out on him for me, I´ll give him a chance & I hope he does well. Seen some 'youtube footage' & some of his saves are top class but by all accounts he needs to command his box much better & work closer with his DEF. Got to be better than Ricard though ?
We as supporters have to wake up and smell the coffee - Kasper is without doubt going to be our first choice goalkeeper next season - We have to accept a mistake by a keeper is far more noticeable and potentially consequential than a misplaced pass by a midfielder or an attempt on goal ballooned over by an off cue striker - However as with the outfield players a goalkeeper is human and as likely to make a mistake as anyone. If we start shouting Wealo Wealo after every goal conceded or cross flapped at we will simply dash another keepers confidence - Come on let's get behind he guy and give him the support he needs to make the shirt his own
I think Schmeichel will be a great keeper for us, Leeds fans said the reason why he was making mistakes is because he felt too comfortable because he had no decent competition. Well with Weale he will have decent competition.
If he loses weight over the summer he will do better for you guys! trys showboating a lot when simple saves are the answer, his best games in a Leeds shirt funnily enough where both on TV Derby and Arsenal, Id go as far as saying hes a world class shot stopper but a Conference class commander of his area (suprising seen as how good his dad was)
With commanding his area if you dont have a good defence then its hard to command the area. Your defenders are shocking, i know some have left or will leave but Alex Bruce, Richard Naylor, Andy O'Brien are all very poor. You would of been better off keeping Schmeichel and signing some defenders
The scary thing is we did try signing new defenders last season but we ended up with Obrien Bruce and McCartney! all bab tash Us Leeds fans are pinning our hopes on Kisnorbo being fit next year, We signed a young defender called Monty Gimpel who if needs be might have to be thrown into the deepend, if he is any good im gonna get Gimpel on my shirt haha
Gimpel ! Was Kisnorbo unfit a lot last season then? I always wondered whether Nigel was right to let him go.
Kisnorbos another player that i regret getting rid of, when hes fit hes brilliant, but we already had Tunchev lying on the physio stretcher.
Kisnorbo missed out the entire season due to injury. If he comes back the player he was the previous season, it'll be like getting a new player. His absence almost singlehandedly cost us a top 6 finish.... that & SG couldn't find a suitable replacement. Interesting you've taken Kasper. Thoughts on his departure are somewhat split on the Leeds board. We all tend to agree that it wasn't handled too well by the club. But as to whether we should have let him go, it depends on who you talk to. Me, I think we may just come to regret that decision, but only time will tell. Good luck for next season..... except when you play us of course!!
Deffo think we need one of these, two would be even better but i'm not a big fan of sick note Maynard
Kisnorbo's injurys meant he had to leave us thats the only reason why we let him go. His ability is more then good enough at this level but his distribution isnt the greatest. He has 2 dodgy knees and i think he will end up retiring soon
