With Chico time over, we will now focus on his replacement ASAP, and we have been tracking this lad for some time, though it is also reported that Newcastle are also interested, but with approx. £5 Million from the Chico sale towards his upgrade, I'm hopping we land this lad very soon, he is quality and wasted in the SPL, and it's about time we had a center back that can score for fun too, we have other targets, one being Argentinian, but this lad Van Dirjk will fit right into our style of play. Be interesting to see if we get him..............

What's the rule on the number of non-EU players on the field at one time. Is there a rule or limit. Montero and Ki count as two - the only two we currently have - yes?
Can't think of anyone else so yeah I think they are the only two. Not sure if there is a non EU rule tbh. Edit: Chelsea played with Ramirez, Oscar and Luiz last season and possibly another I think. Edit again: Man City played with Toure, Zabaletta, Aguero and Fernandhino. So at least 4 players
I read about a "non-EU rule" while reading some papers on Barca a week or so ago - it may have been La Liga specific.
Wow ... you're right, quite a few. I've done a quick scan on the web and frankly there are a lot of articles about restrictions here and there in other leagues inside the EU, relaxation of rules over time etc, but it's a bit of a rat's nest. I saw nothing definitive about the Prem and the UK - except something to do with visa rules (http://www.espnfc.com/story/1303380/uk-visa-rule-change-hits-non-eu-players) - make of that what you will.
OK - I'd forgotten he'd been here so long. I can't find anything specific in the rules about non-EU players, only the inclusion of so many home produced players and under 21s.
Clubs register a squad of up to 25 players, which must include at least eight 'home-grown' players, at the end of each transfer window. So you can't have more than 17 non home grown players... Non-EU player just have a harder time getting a work permit, because they basically need to be playing for their nation sides.
