As the new players move in and old players move out of The CCS, I think it's fair to say most are reasonably happy with our recent acquisitions, though for me an experienced/confident new CB and a physical midfield general are still essentials to protect the back four, or maybe three under gung-ho all attacking Ole. What worries me is that the club have a tradition of selling off our key players at the last minute. What if that is Marshall? Before anyone comes out with our lord and saviour Tan will not let this happen, just remember he is a businessman first and foremost, who doesn't have the same feelings about the club as you and me. What I'm saying is, if the right club comes along and matches our asking price he's gone. How confident would you feel with Moore starting the season?
ITIWRAN (cant get used to the other moniker) Moore may not be at the same level as Marshall (may never be) but he is a very capable keeper and after watching him at Yeovil would not be as worried as if we only had Lewis. As you state we still need a new C/B, left footed would really help. p.s. Enjoyed the sarcasm in the post
He's only "gone" if he wants to go. He's repeatedly said he wants to stay with the club unlike Caulker, Medel and Mutch who could wait to get away from us. Unless the wages on offer were so staggering that they would be virtually unrefusable, the only other way we could get him from here (if we wanted to) is to give him a golden goodbye so we could bank the dosh. It isn't necessarily a loyalty thing - that's as rare as hen's teeth these days - more that he likes it here settled with his family and has just signed on until 2017 on that basis. I'd imagine a Prem club who wanted for backup like Vorm to Spurs wouldn't attract him from a playing point of view given his personal circumstances in his home in Cardiff. Other clubs in the Prem that I can think of who would select him as first choice are just as likely to come down as we are to go up, so he'd be back to square one in a place he'd rather not be. I realise that's all a bit an airy fairy way to look at it, but I doubt he'll be anywwhere other than here come August 31st when the window closes.
Eldon! Sarcasm? Me? Spark! I hope you're right fella but it wasn't that long ago The Saints were testing the waters. Why restrict interest to the Prem? We went global last season. Perhaps European managers sat up and took notice of his performances? Would certainly be a huge boost if he stays after the close of the window.
Forster likely to go from Celtic to Saints for £8m if Celtic go out of Europe tonight - 4.1 down so the money is on Forster to move. I can't think of any other Prem clubs of the right standard who would want Marshall as anything other than a back up. I think we are safe as far as he is concerned.
The Saints!! Crikey Bob - the way they're going, if he went to there he may have to keep them up himself...........
Cant see Marshall going this side of the transfer window. Don't think he will be as busy as last season mind!!!
I think Lewis leaving says Marshall is happy and we're not looking to cash in. As Blue mentions there aren't many/any prem options for him and even fewer European clubs with pockets £15m deep who need him. Edited. I forgot to thank the saviour Tan for this joyous situation
Dark forces conspiring against us? Looks like Forster will stay put. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28701951
Nothing to do with Marshie, but I've been banging on about this lad for a while and looks like Ole has seen enough too - good move. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ee-deal-with-non-league-starlet-danny-johnson
