I mean theres literally nothing to support this at all and until their recent round of success they were a mid level club at best. Massively in Madrids shadow and less successful in europe than Aston Villa. I can understand Madrid, they bought their brand and now sell the dream. they have conned people into believing Madrid is better ( its not, what an awful club it is ). Who are the actual biggest clubs, based on footballing reasons. success, development, appreciation for players etc etc. In terms of a player looking for the dream, wheres best?
Barca became big in the last 15 years, they have one of the best developement of kids in the world. Have nice warm and dry weather, players from South America went to Spain to get a Spanish passport, then they pay a lower rate of tax (well did until last year) so that helps. Most of all Fifa love Barca
all true custard but not many football reasons. they won loads true but over the past 3 decades i think weve won more than everyone else. Latin players still believe rain will kill them.
Per Country; England - Manchester United & Liverpool Germany - Bayern Munich & Dortmund ( a distant second) Italy - Milan & Juventus Spain - Real Madrid & Barcelona Holland - Ajax Portugal - Benfica & Porto Everyone else is just small time.
Barca have a massive fan base, an iconic and huge stadium, have had an actual period of true dominance in Europe that United say have never had and have had some unbelievable players play there like Cruyff, Maradona, Figo, Ronaldinho etc even before the current batch. In fact aside from Pele (who never played in Europe), you could make a case that they've had the next 3 best players ever play for them in Cruyff, Maradona and Messi. They also brought through a football revolution and batch of youth players that went on to dominate on the international stage to. Impossible to really say where they stand in the league of so called 'biggest' clubs but they are right up there.
Three decades ago- most professional footballers weren't even born. / obsessed with history... living in the past!
bloody hell milk etc, obsessed with history and living in the past! And you have the balls to criticise others????? That's been Liverpool's hymn sheet for the last 25 years
This is fun.............. http://footballdatabase.com/ranking/world/1 http://talksport.com/football/europes-top-10-clubs-last-10-years-14043089331 http://www.clubworldrankings.com/uefa.htm Barca are a massive club imo but as time rolls on opinions will change, just look at City for a modern example they now have money, are winning trophys and have the infrastructure in place to be a huge club.
but FFP will scupper that, unless they get lots kids through the youth system. http://www.clubworldrankings.com/uefa.htm this is the only one that I would say is decent of the 3 urls you gave
A little random.....since no one was discussing Chelsea....but anyway..... Barca have a huge stadium, huge fanbase and have been recently successful, and bred a whole new generation of Spanish stars that have cleaned up internationally, so as much as it pains me to say (loathe Barca) they are huge right now.
I'm not so sure, City seem to be putting all the required facilities in place in order for them to be successful for many years.
It is now but the plans to upgrde the facilities are now going ahead, once they have that complex in place they are bound to use it to attract the best youngsters around. They are here to stay imo.
