I can see why LVG being appointed as United has spooked Rodgers. He got lucky with the managerial situation at other clubs last season and knows that this season he has to deliver top 4 at the absolute minimum. Had Moyes still been in charge at United Rodgers wouldn't have considered them much of a threat. As it is he knows City and Chelsea are nailed on for a top 4 spot, Wenger knows how to deliver a top 4 team and LVG has one of the strongest track records in European football. Uncomfortable times for Brenda.

Surely everyone's missed the most important part of the article - the deep insight it gives into Liverpool's tactics next season:

""We were well worth the lead and had a couple of other chances. And I thought we could have had another penalty."

Seems like the loss of Suarez isn't going to stop them playing for penalties every chance they get...

Not 100% sure if he was 41 TBH.

lol, Van Gaal should come back with "I've never managed in England, this is obviously true. I've also never been sacked by Reading"

According to Wikipedia, his first honour was the Dutch Championship with Ajax in 1994, after he took over in 1991 (he was previously assistant at Ajax and before that at AZ). In 1994 he would have been 42 (turning 43 in August; it's his birthday in two days).

He won the UEFA cup in '92 mate.

In any case Rodgers isn't fit to lace his boots and never will be, the man's a David Brent'esque bullshit merchant, with an ego the size of Wales. He'll be found out this season imo.

Indeed, I missed that. He also won the KNVB Cup in 1993. So in other words, ignore what I wrote <doh>

UIR, Inter won the UEFA Cup in 1991. And I think he would only have been assistant then anyway (not sure exactly when in 1991 he took over).

This viewpoint doesn't really surprise me <laugh>

I understand from one of your lot that a rather embarrassing mural has gone up at Goodison <whistle> You could be describing your manager <laugh>

meh, that mural is a ****ing embarrassment, but nothing to do with Martinez, that's Kenwright the melt.

But Martinez is definitely not in the same envelope as Brent mate.

Martinez has won a major trophy as a manager.
I will have to look this mural up that everyone keeps talking about

any manager with an ounce of common sense would refrain from such stupid comments, and its not a bad idea to engage brain before opening mouth. By the size of Brenda's mouth, you could fit LVG's head inside and it would still rattle

Only conclusion we can draw from this is Brenda's brain must weigh in as miniscule

According to my fabled reporter mate, Rodgers is a far more pleasant and approachable bloke than Martinez. My mate's a manc. I don't know either of them, but my mate doesn't suffer fools gladly. He asked Rodgers to do a get well card after my accident and he did it happily. A **** wouldn't have bothered.

Imo with Martinez you have the potential to finish anywhere between bottom and 5th.

I never said he was a **** mate, albeit he dropped his Mrs at the first sight of big money and some decent skirt.........

Martinez is loved by everyone at Finch Farm, after the Moyes era, he's been a breath of fresh air apparently.

However, neither point is relevant to their ability as young managers and despite your great season last time out, I'm still not having Rodgers, I think he's bogus.

He might go on to make me eat those words, but only time will tell.

Yeah mate, with a proven 1 in 2 £28m PL striker and a side full of Internationals, we're likely to finish bottom. <doh>
