Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio is aiming to bring veteran Italian defender Alberto Comazzi to the club, reports the Swindon Advertiser.

Reports in Italy suggest the 32-year-old ex-Milan, Lazio and Verona defender is a target and is currently considering an offer from Di Canio.

He is expected to make a decision within the next 48 hours.

Comazzi's career began at Serie A giants Milan in 1996. He has since played for Como, Monza and Lazio, before joining Verona in 2002.

He spent eight years there, before moving to La Spezia in Italy's third-tier last season., who play in the third highest tier of football in Italy.

Di Canio is reported to have contacted Comazzi a fortnight ago and has sold the defender his promotion vision for the Robins.
