The sheer number of mediocre players being bought by Brenda with the rat face money is astonishing. History indicates that teams bringing in more than 3 or 4 key players do not perform as they need time to gel. Recent examples are Spurs... It looks more and more that last season was Brenda's career high point
The Spurs who brought in all those players in which none of them had ever played in our league? Oh yeah that Spurs Keep crossing those figures and toes fella
The difference is we don't need a complete overhaul like Spurs did. Our bench last year was shocking, our bench this year will be decent. I think people will be suprised by Markovic, he's basically a white version of Sterling, but even faster. So with those 2 playing wide and Coutinho in the number 10 role with Sturridge up front - we'll be flat out on the counter. We've also got Can - who was a bargain at 10mil, and has all the attributes to be a perfect box to box midfielder. Although for his first season I see him playing the games Gerrard doesn't. Then our defence - Sakho was a beast at the WC and I have every faith he'll be a major part of our season. Then you add Lovren, excellent defender with the leadership qualities we missed since Carra retired. We need a LB and a Striker to give Sturridge competition and we're good to go. At this point in time - you need a hell of a lot more than we do.
Christiansmith has a very valid point, which you all seem to be ignoring. All Brenda has purchased is mediocre players for mediocre money. To have a realistic chance of beating other teams in the prem, you have to ask how many of your players would get in the oppositions squad and vice versa. Weighing up the serious opposition with Chelsea, Arsenal, City and United Liverpool don't have any serious contenders. All you have are reasonable replacements for other reasonable players who might get injured or suspended. And that is not a recipe for success
And we all know (and which some of us only acknowledge now that he is a Madrid player) that rat face was far too good for the RS and won them points on his own. Without him, I cannot see them competing and getting points against the top teams. They got £75m for him and it would have been sensible to get a top £30m-£35m striker to replace him. What did they do? they brought in Ricky...
What were most of us thought we wouldnt make top 4? Are you sue you didnt laugh at your smell the fear thread last Autumn? You're developing a very selective memory mate
I did no smell the fear thread. You seem worried though and all most of us are saying is we will be back in the top 4. Its at your expense though
Southampton to go down. Burnley to finish as lowest scorers and harry redknapp to be sacked before the end of October.
And that is true btw, I know you like to think we're all mental but a lot of our fans were worried we wouldnt manage top 4. We more than achieved that yet somehow we still had a **** season
