SUNDERLAND WANT LIVERPOOL DECISION BEFORE WEDNESDAY OVER BORINI Submitted by Tribal Football Staff 11 hours ago Share on emailShare on print Sunderland hope for an answer from Liverpool by tomorrow over Fabio Borini's situation. The Northern Echo says the Black Cats have agreed a £14million deal with the Reds for the Italian striker, who spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light. Borini has been in the United States with Liverpool, where he picked up a shoulder injury, and while it's reckoned he had been hoping to stay at Anfield and fight for his place, he is likely to be allowed to leave - with Sunderland the only side to meet Liverpool's valuation.
We have their answer though...it's the player who is dragging his feet from where i'm standing anyway...
Utter ****e. They accepted the bid officially, he's stalling supposedly. Also... He ain't in the US, he's back here.
Gus must be confident that Borini is his man. I'm not, but who really gives a ****. If Borini signs, he'll probably need to do a little PR work...supporters are going to want to see some enthusiasm for pulling on the shirt. If not that, a brace in week 1 would probably do.
I just cannot work out his reluctance, LFC have signed more attackers than defenders and since he was not needed , or missed, last season then we offer him the shop window to attract the bigger clubs he seems to think he deserves. Not a good attitude IMO.
Supposedly tomorrow is decision day with regards to Borini, it's gone on long enough imo, if he won't sign tomorrow he never will & it's pretty clear he doesn't want to come. That's fair enough, but we need to move on. Save Short a lot of money
I don't doubt he will, he did every time he pulled on the shirt last season. I'm not so gullible to believe the ****e in the papers when not one of them provided any proof what so ever that 'he doesn't want to come'. I work off facts, not speculation. He played his heart out every time last season. Gus has always remained confident, that's a fact, he probably knows something we don't. He's got nothing to prove to me as these accusations are unproven.
Brendon wanted him in the US, he went, he got injured, and now he can't move until his shoulder has recovered enough to pass a medical? I'm just speculating like you only I'm not laying into the lads attitude off newspaper speculation. Do you know what? If I was Borini I'd **** us off in a heartbeat. As we have a fan base who always try to see the worse in people, doesn't matter if they have no facts to base it on.
Every fan base is the same. LWe are no worse then them or anybody else. In fact I'd go as far to say that Sunderland fans have more patience then a lot of other team fans. We never castigate players for not being the best at what they do all we ask is that players give 100% for the team.
According to a story in the Sunderland Echo, Gus had a big grin on his face when asked about Borini, but refused to comment further. GUS POYET’S body language is usually just as important as his words, when it comes to drawing conclusions from the Sunderland boss, writes Chris Young Poyet is an expressive guy. He cannot help a smile, shake or nod of the head when answering a question, and that usually tells its own story. On Saturday night, Poyet was like a kid at Christmas when asked about transfers. It’s easy to see why now. The imminent £10million signing of Jack Rodwell is a HUGE statement of intent from Sunderland and owner Ellis Short. Considering more than half of Sunderland’s Premier League competitors were chasing the hugely talent, if injury-prone, Manchester City midfielder, it is a real feather in the cap for the Black Cats. If the smile which accompanied Poyet’s answer to the subsequent questions about Fabio Borini is anything to go by, then this could be a defining week in Sunderland’s history, let alone their season. Certainly, the Uruguayan has always seemed positive in the very-public pursuit of the Liverpool forward.[/B] Rodwell provides that element of quality which has been too scarcely scattered around Sunderland’s squad over the last two or three years. The 23-year-old was an England regular in-the-making before his wide-eyed move to the finances and glory at the Etihad turned nauseatingly sour. What a deal this will be for Lee Congerton’s stock too. Those question marks over the new Sunderland sporting director will suddenly disappear in an instant. Rodwell’s signing puts a completely different complexion on Sunderland’s summer business. While the Black Cats will still require another four or five signings, all of the new recruits look to be an upgrade on their predecessors, and in Rodwell’s case, a significant one. Billy Jones and Patrick van Aanholt are more comfortable going forwards than Phil Bardsley or Marcos Alonso - a crucial factor when it comes to Poyet’s strategy. Costel Pantilimon is a far greater threat - if not replacement - to Vito Mannone’s place. Jordi Gomez will be more comfortable in a possession-based philosophy than Craig Gardner. And Rodwell has the dynamic ability to get from box-to-box which Jack Colback struggled to add to his game consistently, even if Sunderland would ideally liked to have kept the Newcastle United man. The only reservation over Rodwell is his fitness record. Since moving to Manchester City in a £12million deal two years ago, the former Everton man has been plagued by persistent hamstring problems. He swapped his low-riding sports car, moved closer to Manchester and even changed pillows in a bid to emerge from the injury nightmare, but with little obvious reward. City clearly lost patience and after making the last of his Premier League appearances as a late substitute in April’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland, the champions decided to get some of their money back by touting him around this summer. Rodwell needs to move. He needs to hope that regular first-team football will eradicate the niggles, as it has done with Sunderland defender Wes Brown. Sunderland’s management of Brown’s fitness will give Poyet hope that Rodwell can be a regular presence in the side next season. With such a lofty investment, Sunderland can ill-afford anything else. However, Rodwell has been able to participate fully in Man City’s pre-season and Poyet will be confident that his fitness coach, Antonio Pintas, can work the same magic that he has done with Brown. After all, those concerns can wait for another day. For now, Poyet can enjoy the promise of what could be a real transfer coup.
Borini Giaccharini Johnson Cattermole Rodwell Looks as good as we have ever had, fingers crossed lad's.
It's happening on this thread (and another), apparently he has something to prove to us after the big bad daily mail and their chums decided without proof to run a certain angle(they had to chose one to got with) and now Borini has to 'Show us'. It's happening on another thread where Rodwell's injury record is being held against him before he's even kicked a ball for us. We never do we not? Aye righto , I see it everywhere myself, Jozy had stick all last season. We always have to castigate someone. Always.
I am fairly sure Borini will be a sunderland player before the end of the window. We need to sign a centre back or 2 now.
Sturridge & Lambert are Liverpool's only strikers, if I was Borini I would think I should be in with a shout next season. I dont think Liverpool are letting him leave until they sign a Suarez replacement.
Its my guess Borini will sign for us along with Vergini and maybe another. Liverpool need Borini to go to alleviate some of the 100 Million they have spent this summer.
Try telling Jozy that.. Anyway, Borini would be an immense permanent signing but it's getting boring(i) now. A conclusion one way or the other will be good for all parties involved.
