Believe we have option to buy zen at any point during season and Sorensen thing only now awaiting a medical. Long time since we signed a 4m valued player. Remember us getting very worked up last season over the 1m to crewe

    Morning all.
Its boiling up nicely. Good news every day. This has the makings of a very exciting period in our progress upwards !!
It will surely take time for a new owner/manager/squad to become a cohesive unit but you never know it may be sooner than we hope.

Morning elland, thanks for another good thread ... morning all fellow sufferers, starting to think we'll be taking smiley pills this season rather than painkillers ... I for one can't wait for the day we never play Millwall again ... great to see us getting players in who should be able to contribute for a while, no more signing a Paul Green or David Norris ... for me it would be great to get in two wide men as a minimum but that doesn't look likely, we do of course need a striker for sure, and a fourth centre back to offset any injuries ... good luck to Leigh Bromby, Leeds through and through and I was surprised he had been let go along with Naylor

Morning all, I too am pleased with how the squad is coming together. For me though, i'm a little disappointed we didn't get viviani as not only is he a hot prospect future Italian national team player but he is reportedly a defensive deep-lying playmaker. I feel this is another position we have lacked for years. Who else might we have? Austin? Tonge? With the attempt to sign a player for this role MC or Hock must feel we have a need for this type of player too, but I have no confidence that MC has a back-up plan to sign instead. Unfortunately I just see us involving Tonge more or when the going gets tough Norris! :(

As the Don says the Duke could score a bag full as he's the fastest thing at the club, he's big and strong and powerful, but he can also operate out wide (Preferred position) so if we bring in a good striker we also get a good pacey winger who scores as well.

In a few weeks time I can see a minimum of 5 new players starting every game, with another couple pushing for a starting berth too. This means that the likes of Byram, Murphy, Wootton, Pearce, Smith, Mowatt and Dawson need to up their games to get involved, along with the likes of young Cook etc pushing for bench time. Poleon and Hunt and Morison need to be offed otherwise they are just taking wages

I think Killock will be 4th choice centre back.

If we don't sign Andy Delort, who sounds like exactly the sort of player we need, I reckon Poleon could step up to the plate.
Don't think we should write him off just yet. Also agree with Orion, Viviani was the defensive playmaker we've been lacking, probably since the days of Batty. Can't see anyone else in the squad capable of playing that role.

Watched Ajose a few times at Swindon last season, pacy and knows where the goal is. Only 22 so could do a job for us.

Regarding Ajose: We've agreed a deal with Peterbrough for him according to Teamtalk. Would still prefer Delort if I'm being honest but if he does come I'll give him a try.

I've heard Batty being called many things, but playmaker was never one of them!

Have you noticed a common link with all of your new players?

Not one of them was a regular at their old clubs - In fact, some of them have never played above junior level.
Ajose couldn't even get into the Peterborough side FFS <laugh>

    Exciting times indeed <whistle>

Its a fair point. I'm not getting carried away with our signings, but there's always an air of optimism when signing young 'talent'. As for the wall, has bessone been a regular anywhere for a while? He was regularly laughed at when we had him, if that counts?

I'm not sure if your jibes are getting more juvenile or whether you're just getting more nervous about Nilwall's prospects. Perhaps some day you'll be a bit more confident about Nilwall's prospects & you won't have to lash out as much. Probably when you find your level in non-league ....
