You would what WMS? Is that the first forum 'outing'? As a defender he is a touch slow but I think he's a step up from the CB's at either Sunderland or Newcastle but we would never pay his wages.
haha, joking aside he would be a welcome addition to either of our squads imo, especially us coz as it stands i fail to see much life left in our cb's, quality football brains mind, seriously top notch
I really think his best has gone and I'm not sure weather he could command big wages. Incedently I don't think he's crap
A yes from me, he's 3 years younger then Jos. Has to be an upgrade. But he's been linked with us for years and I don't think he wants to move to the NE unfortunately...
Wes Brown's a genius mate, him on his A-game he didn't need pace, he read the game so easily. His only flaws really were that he chose to go to ground too often, and he didn't have much luck with injuries. I'd stick him right up there with Woodgate for how effortless they made defending look on their day, but both plagued with horrible luck. Fergie had Brown down as the best natural defender in the country at one point, he couldn't fault him.
We've got two more cb places up for grabs, Vergini, is one, give the other to Dawson and we have no pace at the back what so ever which will leave us vulnerable every time our wingbacks push forward. Think about it lads, he's a decent player but completely inadequate for we need this window.
We'll struggle to get a 'fast' CB but we can get one with more pace and fresher legs than what we've got, that is not Dawson. I did say Dawson is decent, but I'm not going to pretend he's faster than what we've got when it's blatantly clear that he isn't. I may putting out some kind of mind blowing unconventional view point here (I doubt it), but does it not makes sense to sign players with the attributes we need? Rather than just signing someone based purely on them being decent, but doesn't bring what we need?
Do you have any concrete suggestions of a good, pacey CB we would have a chance of signing? A young player on loan from one of the big clubs is all I can think of with all the risk that entails. Still, Johnny Evans worked out fine (wouldn't get him now though).
Zouma, on loan yes, but a good chance of getting him in. I'd like Ryan Shawcross mysel, he's no speed machine but he's faster than Wes, Jos, Dawson and Vergini. We ain't going to get anybody fast in(unless we stump up for Micha) but my dead gran can move faster than Dawson, JoS and Wes. Really not hard to improve on them pace wise but improve on them we simply must if we're to play wingbacks. Our CB's will be exposed to pace. We've been linked with Dawson for the last five seasons straight, I'm hoping it's just lazy Journos at it again.
To be fair, you should have got in for Caulker instead of QPR, I was convinced he'd get a better club than that lot... jeez I can't believe it's nearly upon us Harry Redknapp deadline day, the most depressing day of the year. Kill me now.
I agree mate, shame that ship has sailed, I think a few would have been in for him but few outside the top 6 can compete with QPR on wages, the tossers.
I was gutted they come up instead of Derby, the football Derby played last season was brilliant at times. I don't see how they can keep avoiding punishment for trading in debt so much, their next figures are going to be sickening to read. Of course their saviour 'Lakshmi Mittal' will save their bacon - not that he's remotely interested but don't let that get in the way of a perfectly planned contingency plan. If he was prepared to save their club, I think he'd have bought the club with his loose change by now!
