The 29-year-old midfielder had told his former club Marseille that he was ready for a new challenge and stated his plans to move on this summer. His comments sparked a number of rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League, notably with the two London sides - although in the past he has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool. After Valbuena starred at the World Cup this summer interest rose massively - with teams from across Europe inquiring as to his availability. Both clubs, however, passed up the opportunity to take their reported interest further and Dynamo Moscow have taken full advantage, acquiring the player on a three-year deal. "Dynamo have a very interesting project and I'm happy to be a part of it," Valbuena told Dynamoâs official website. Dynamo president Boris Rotenberg couldnât contain his delight at the signing, expressing: "We are hoping that his high class will help take the club to the next level." Valbuena spent eight years at Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, making a total of 227 league appearances and helping the club win the French title in 2010.
I was thinking that as I opened the thread! They ought to do that one day to really catch us all out. Wasn't Caulker a Wednesday?
Mathieu Valbuena has signed for Russian side Dynamo Moscow. Obviously the wrong sort. If he is going to Moscow amidst all the hoo-ha that is going on at the moment then it must be down to one thing and one thing only ... money.
Well looks to me as though we dodged a bullet there. As soon as a player starts talking about the new club as having "a very interesting project" he is "happy to be part of" I know all I need to know. Bet he's not going there for any reason other than loadsa money. Oh sorry. He wants to develop himself and learn by experiment with pots of money to find new ways to spend it as quickly as possible.
He's 29, only been noticed this year, and then only because Ribery was injured. His coffers probably aren't quite stuffed to overflowing yet, and this is his last chance.
