GUS POYET is confident that Sunderland are on the verge of making several breakthroughs in the transfer market. The Sunderland boss said earlier this week that he was looking for four new signings by next Wednesday, to add to the four players who have already arrived at the Stadium of Light this summer. A buoyant Poyet was hopeful after Sunderland’s final friendly in Portugal tonight that his wishes had been answered, with several fresh faces on their way to the club. “There are plenty of things going on and I’m looking forward to things happening in the next few days, so it’s all positive,” said Poyet. “I think we have a great chance (of signing players), a great chance. “People are going to be surprised, which is great. It’s all positive. “We’ve had a few things that before we knew it they didn’t work. “But I’m hoping there’s going to be some good news over the next two or three days.” Main target Fabio Borini, along with Santiago Vergini, have been two of deals that Sunderland have been looking to make progress on. But the Black Cats have also been tracking Cardiff City’s Jordon Mutch throughout the summer and saw a £3.5million bid rejected in June. Reports today indicated that QPR had seen a £5m offer turned down although the newly-promoted side were expected to up their bid. But Poyet refused to confirm or deny whether Sunderland were in the race for Mutch. “We have been talking about so many players and it’s difficult,” he added. “If you start talking about every single player on the list we will be here forever. “It’s not fair on the players or the clubs either. I prefer not to go too much in to it.” class
We have a top-class manager, and I'm sure that he will get who he wants this transfer-window.He is a class act and knows how to play his cards...not a gobby person like some we could name!

There's a month of the transfer window left. There's money available. The clubs who have either bought players in or have new managers will be selling ........ Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs etc. We got off to a late start as we didn't know what division we'd be in. There's a month of the transfer window left. Oh yeah and also, there's a month of the transfer window left.
I ****ing wish it was only a game. What it is is one of the largest, most obssessive parts of my life on a day to day basis.
I'm glad our club has finally come to its senses and realised were never going to challenge for the top four or win the league. All were ever going to do is survive or finish mid table and it's taken a while to realise but now management knows that theirs no point buying lots of players for big money because it makes no difference because the only players we could attract are average players. So we might as well sign average players on free or cheap money for a few million.
Why on earth would anyone be 'glad' if a club accepted eternal mediocrity? You don't really get this 'football' and 'sport' thing, do you?
