Tbf they do mention Bruce and city... But when we played it to get promotion Wigan were also playing with 3 at the back when they got relegated in the prem.

They do, but it hasn't been mention until some super duper tactical master like LVG uses it.

I remember last year on MOTD Savage saying how outdated 3-5-2 was.

The best use of players in a formation was Chelsea's 4-2-3-1. Recently there's been Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Essien, Matic making the 2 with Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle (or Mata when he was there) behind a striker. It says how well it worked that they were effective without even having a consistently scoring striker.

I'd love us to play that formation. Any 3 from Snodgers, Ince, Brady, Aluko or even Elmo/Boyd would be fantastic behind a striker. 2 from Hudd, Livermore and Meyler sat deeper.

    Lovely.

It is rather ironic that SB was seen as an old fashioned Dinosaur, mostly by the Sunderland fans.

TBH I was when we appointed him.

I always knew he was a good manager, but I thought we where going to be strong, big and psychical. Maybe because in his playing career he was big kick arse centre half.

Can't believe I listened to Sunderland fans on the Internet <doh>

My favourite formation too due to the fact it allows the 3 behind the striker to be very fluid in their positions and have a big impact on the game.

I definitely think formations are talked about to much.

It's simple..Look at the players at your disposable's and then pick a formation that suits them.

I think to many managers have favourite formations and try and shoe horn players into them formations.
