This goes to show how many lies are circulated in the media. They have free license to post any amount of crap based on flimsy evidence in news papers and electronic based media. Yet people take these sources as the utter truth. We live in dangerous times.
Arsenal press conference today and Wenger said the following: - Was never any truth in the Balotelli rumours - Quintero rumours are wrong - Campbell will get first team place and will play in the Emirates cup - Vermaelen may still go - Happy with transfer business but may be open to more Ok looks like the Balo and Quintero rumours were balls. Campbell is being promoted to our first team so he is our new striker and we won't be buying a new CF. Vermaelen is 50/50 to stay or go and looks like transfer business is pretty much done. Unless Vermaelen goes and/or we get a DM? then we'll dip into the transfer market.
Pretty much confirms that vermaelen wants to go, guess it depends whether they can find a replacement
Here's more from Arsene Wenger on Arsenal's summer transfer business thus far, and the potential of more signings to come. I'm very happy because I did what I wanted, and I am still open to do more. Let's not forget that we are at August 1 today, and the transfer window closes on the 31st. For years, it's a long time I didn't sit with you here on the first of August having done quite a lot. We are a bit ahead of what we usually do, because the availability on the market was bigger and earlier than before. And as for Thomas Vermaelen's Arsenal future, Gunners boss Wenger explained: At the moment, Thomas Vermaelen is here. He is injured at the moment with a short-term injury. It (a move) could happen, yes it's a possibility that he goes. If he goes, we have to replace him. I expect him to stay but he, of course, did not play enough games last year. For me, he's a very important player but I couldn't guarantee him the games he wanted last year. The quote in bold shows that he is happy and did what he wanted in the transfer market, its very unlikely that we're in for anyone else unless Vermaelen goes, which is confirmed in his second quote.
It sounds like he will maybe grab an extra player in, if the right player is available at the right price, but that otherwise he has the squad he wants. Unless verm leaves in which case he will be replaced. I think if the right dm is available we will go in for him otherwise we are likely to see the squad stay the same.
You need a quality DM to avoid the debacles you suffered at Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton - could TV play there?
Spot on. He's happy with his squad and unless he gets a great deal in, he won't be bothered. At the moment, clubs are over inflating their player prices, especially when we're coming along as they know we have money and have recently splashed a lot of cash on Ozil and Sanchez. Most probable is a replacement for Verm if he goes.
I think he's saying there is a possibility but he is more or less happy with getting no one else in. The latter is more likely.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is speaking in a news conference at this very moment. He rules out a move for Porto midfielder Juan Quintero, saying: "That is wrong." He says the club still plan further signings before the close of the transfer window, adding: "I think 15-30 August will be busy again." From the BBC so i still think he is looking. I agree that a replacement in case TV leaves is realistically the only transfer. But he does seem to be open to transfers - i am guessing a CM/DM. He dismissed Quintero and Mario links but didn't add anything on Khedira, Carvalho and Schneiderlin who he have also been linked with. Gives me a bit of hope.
So am I but we've already bought over the odds than usual transfer windows and we haven't got any real urgent transfers to get apart from a potential Vermaelen replacement. I agree with everyone here that we need a DM type midfielder that can play ball, has a good engine and can complement Ozil and Ramsey. But I can't see anything happening if the price is too much. Teams will try and fleece us and Wenger won't be forced either way. He seems happy so far. As for the busy comment, I think he could be referring more to other teams than us, as he's mostly done all his business but teams like Manure and Pool still have a lot to do in the transfer market.
I know Wenger is not looking for another ST, but how about this lad. Stronger the Drogba, quicker than Ronaldo, better dribbler than Messi and a better finisher than Ibrahimovic. All we need would be a pot of Gold and a Time machine. Good God!! I almost forgot how great he was. Imagine what he would have done if he didn't miss those 4 years.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...eplacement-for-Man-Utd-bound-Thomas-Vermaelen Supposedly we want Arbeloa from RM to sign as a replacement if vermaelen leaves. He's mainly a lb/rb but can play in the middle so I'm not sure how much truth there is in this...
I'd be very surprised if we didn't sign anybody else this window. I'm expecting a DM type of signing to be made.
We've definitely made an enquiry about Khedira .....
He doesn't exactly say he's enquired but makes a wry smile. This could be a wind up, who knows. We will find out soon.
