Lots of Bullshit about us signing Cavani now!!
Popping up everywhere, as PSG panic over their finances and want to meet FFP, this could be the only reason I could see for them letting him go.
Course we all know its crap, but again, as f**k all else is happening on here, we need something to talk about.

Costa would be pissed if we signed him imo, he was the main man at Atletico and proved his worth there, but all of a sudden having to compete with someone like Cavani in a team that plays one up top might not please him, same with Cavani. Would be great to have them both (if Cavani was the right price).

The only way I could see it working would be if Jose played a 4-2-2-2 formation.
Dont think anyone in the PL has used this system extensively but its a formation previous Brazil teams have utilised to great effect in the past.

You need great players to do it, but I believe we could.

    -------Courtois--------

    Azpi--Cahill---Terry-Luis

    --Matic------Fabregas--

    Hazard--------Schurrle/Oscar

    --Costa-----Cavani-----

    God i'm bored

Im not crazy about Cavani or Costa, though I hope Costa does do the business. Something about Cavani leaves me unconvinced, can't put my finger on it.

In all seriousness though does anybody actually rate him? Especially as a 50M footballer. I've never once watched him and thought, wow he's really good. I'm not going to claim i've seen him play every week at PSG and Napoli but i've seen him enough times to think he's absolutely rubbish.

We aren't going to fork out this much money on another striker now we've got Costa, surely. They just haven't got anything else to print.

Just sign someone like Aubameyang or however you spell his name. We need a better back up than Torres.

I agree with you, I've also seen him often ,only on TV, and I thought he's a good player for sure, but a top notch, rarely miss striker in the 35 mill + bracket ?? Not my 35 mill, and I hope not Romans either. I would be looking for someone who can play with Costa not just instead of. I think one up front might sometimes be 2 up front in the coming season. Problem is, buggered if I can think who else !!

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (They have signed Immobile, Ramos and Ji, could be available for a knockdown price)

Wilfried Bony (great first season but could be another Benteke)

Edin Dzeko (last year of contract)

Radamel Falcao (If the loan deal rumoured is legit, reforming the Falcao/Costa partnership could be great business)

Jackson Martinez (Price could be too high)

Mauro Icardi (played very well for Inter since signing a year ago)

Loic Remy (8.5M and despite Liverpool's concerns a much better fit than Torres, knockdown price ad can play in a 2)

There is also the possibility of putting Andre Schurrle or Mo Salah up there if we need to. And yeah, Brana has played a bit during pre-season.

Good suggestions, Falcao would by my top pick, but Schurrle was terriffic for Germany in Brazil and has the look of a natural goalscorer.

Agree on Schurrle, I was one of the ones suggesting we play him there last year when we were short of firepower. I actually think Schurrle will have a breakthrough year this year, he is settled and may dislodge Willian from that right hand side, if of course Oscar isn't put out there to accommodate Fabregas at 10.

    Schurrle - - - - Oscar - - - - Hazard
    - - - - - - - - - Costa - - - - - - - -

4-2-3-1 could easily turn into 4-2-2-2

    Oscar - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hazard
    - - - Schurrle - - - - Costa - - - - -

Agree, Schurrle looks the business, Oscar on the other hand has looked quite poor end of season and in Brazil. He will need to lift his game in my opinion.

Oscar was absolutely shattered last season. He needs a bloody good rest before the season starts!
