Our best Championship season was our first when the only signing of note was a million quid on Fatty Trundle, we came within an old mans volley of going up with a league one team. Its all about blend, spirit, and momentum. That said if you have the best coach and best players you have a head start.
i just wish people on here would remember everyone's entitled to their own opinion Indeed, and quite a few have the opinion that you are a bit of a GIRLIE_WIRLIE!!
It's ironic that we have fans worried about the 3 or 4 more players that we have to bring in after the ones we already know about. Ahead of signing Norris and Pearce last week, Pompey had a grand total of ten players. Yeovil had a grand total of seven players listed in their squad last week(I think they just made a signing, taking them to eight). We might be a bit impatient, but there's still a fair amount of time, business increases after July 1st and things could be far worse.
Who says you're not? Bleating about it won't do any good though. We wanted 6-7 players and we've got 4 so far with another 1 almost tied up. If you're disappointed with that situation, you're expectations are way too high.
But why aren't we signing the Kevin Nolans of this world for £4m on £50,000 a week? We can afford it with our Trillionaire Egyptian sugar-daddy, surely.
Yeah but they can always get round that by going into Administration, cancelling the debt and come back like nothing has ever happened!! Hey! WAIT A MINUTE!!
Hullborn - Take a breath mate and relax. We will make 6-7 signings (most likely more). We have signed Dudgeon and Evans, Adebola and McKenna are next along with Hobbs. Add to that 2 more CB, another CM and a couple of wingers we will of signed close to 10 players I reckon. Granted McKenaa and Adebola are not earth shattering, but given that we have had the club rescued for £42m, plus a further £7m bail out this month, then £4 plus million we have paid for Simpson, Fryatt, McClean, Evans and Dudgeon, dont expect any amazing signings. However I reckon some steady functional players such as McKenna, to build a solid base and some quality unknowns like Stewart.
A Stewart-esque winger and another striker in the Fryatt mould would be amazing. Can we afford it? Hmm...
Would be sorry to lose out on Danns by his going to Leicester. Had accepted his move to Glasgow Rangers/Celtic for the prospect of Champions League football. This just means we lost out on our No.1 target purely through money. Leicester and some other clubs are able to wave wads of money about and take the cream. We are not. What we must not do is to get into a bidding war with these players and jeopardize our recovery. Might just have to accept another season of consolidation.
They are definitely missing a player like him, all of their current players are very talented and everyone knows a team needs balance.
Why are people getting frustrated lol It aint even July !! Just out of interest what did you get out of the financial report Hullborn? Did you read it, Signings like Danns on 15k a week, Mackail Smith for 3m+ aint going to happen matey, its about being realisitic, were trying to get our house in order after the prrem business shambles. SO throwing money around isnt going to happen as it happens if we get Hobbs for 800k that'l be mmm about 4.2m spent since Last season. You do realise we have signed 1. Rosienior 2. Chester 3. Dudgeon 4. Evans 5. Fryatt 6. McClean 7. Simpson 8. Stewart 9. Harper Add to that more than likely 10. Hobbs 11. Adebola 12. Mckenna Still not enough given our current financial mess?
