Take you all night to think of that one Lamb? How are the imminent big name signings coming along? Bertrand on loan seems like a fantastic use of £100m.......
The loan seems to suggest that we're probably betting on Targett coming through at left back this season. Hopefully it works out.
Massive gamble to be honest, but from what I have heard about Targett, is that he is a better player than Shaw ever was..... ....he'll be sold in january to a Top 6 team then ;-)
Ryan Bertrand has been at Chelsea since 2006 but has only made 28 league appearances for them and spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. That's 28 appearances in 8 seasons for Chelsea, that's 3 and a half games per season on average - hardly rated by them, so how is he worth £10 million ? With all that money safely tucked in the bank, why didn't Saints show their fans commitment, and snap up Romelu Lukaku from the same club for £28 million. Now that would have been a coup.........
The reason they won't make a signing of Lukaku's statue is because the owner is selling up. A loan signing of a player that even Villa didn't want back for another season is not a good signing. As i have previously said, this whole thing at St Marys just stinks of the crap we went through with Peter Storrie.
You optimism is to be admired Lamb. I cannot doubt that. But I feel you are waiting and seeing for too long now. Only 2 weeks till the season kicks off and only 4 weeks before the window shuts. I think the signing of Bertrand on loan is an indicator as to what to expect from the use of the £100m.....
Fact is Banana brain , that your next signing was a loan kid with virtually no experience, from Chelsea Reserve Reserves! Nice try but try to get your facts right! The bad Fraulein is selling up,EVERYONE can see that(despite the ****y pink rose tinted spectacles) even the most splendid Evening Echo, your favorite newspaper!
Mike you have been left bitter and twisted by what old Storey teller did to the club you love. We have actually spent 18 mill on two players replacing Lambert and Lallana, other transfers are ongoing and hopefully will be great value for money spent. Just because Liverpool payed 24 mill for Lallana doesn't mean we have to spend the same or more to replace him with the same quality. If you include the Italian head butter then we have off loaded 6 players but you will see more than 6 players come in. We are not in the middle of selling our club, we are in the middle of a stronger rebuild. I don't post much these days but I have a good old chuckle when Hic ups happen at our club and all of a sudden the likes of sb appears but I expect a good season and sb will disappear again.
The reaction of a long-suffering person to the latest outburst from an old relative, who doesn't understand that racism and homophobia are no longer cool. Everyone rolls their eyes and thinks, "he can't help himself, can he" Ah, every board has one. I am so glad he ain't ours.
You make a fair point Possum, and again, I do hope it pays off. I wouldn't say I was feeling bitter, more cautious than anything. So much has happened since NC left Saints. It almost feels like there is a hidden story underlying the last 6 months at St Marys which we may never know. The mess at Pompey took years to unravel by Mike Hall and was used in court when deciding the fate of our impending doom. The events at St Mary's does have a certain feel about this too. I hope I am proved wrong and that you have a good season (like ourselves hopefully) but I will remain cautious. Until we all know what's going on. It is nice to have a little chuckle and some banter though ;-)
Hi Channon, Its good to back from Brazil, and winding you Scummers up, although I do need a new tour flag I have missed your wit as much probably as you have missed my sh-t At least I support my team to the death as well as my country, and I don't fiddle with New Forest Ponies!
Am I the only one who doesn't pay attention to pre season? Non competitive matches that are called friendlies for a reason. If you don't make signings quick (Koeman has said 3 are near apparently) then that was your first team. Brighton and Liverpool are worlds apart.
Your right mike banter is crucial to the boards especially between local rivals and I would love to be a fly on the wall at St Mary's to try and understand some of the iffy going ons. I don't think sb is any trouble at all, he's either off fiddling with ponies Or he's tied to his own clubs board, it's all very comical really.
