I think Targett is good enough but I have my doubts he can be good enough over the whole season. At least we know our first choice lb will be able to cross the ball properly this season.
Much like the Chambers sale, when viewed on it's own it makes complete sense, but coupled with other departures it turned out to be the straw that broke the camels back. If this signing was announced on the back of three big money signings it would have been greeted with slightly more enthusiasm, but because we still have all that cash sloshing around it seems like a terrible cheap signing. Roll on September One
So the day Everton find £28m from nowhere to sign Romelu Lukaku, we use absolutely nothing of our £100m war chest to sign Ryan Bertrand... Fan-****ing-tastic.
Well mine isn't that. I haven't seem much of him recently but when I saw him before at Chelsea, I thought he looked ok. I've used 'ok' a lot on this thread, rather than excellent or great. I just think too many people are slagging him off too quickly without giving him a chance. If Targett isn't right and Bertrand doesn't do the business it will be justified stick and the club would have got it wrong.
Wasn't that long ago that some on here were suggesting we got him instead of Villa. He's not Luke Shaw but he' a lot better than last years back up. A solid signing.
I was one of those, heh, but in my defense that was before he had a miserable time at Villa...and because I'd have taken just about anyone that wasn't Danny Fox.
Well here's a thought: Ever heard the expression "saving the best to last"??? Het the players our who want out; start bringing some players in; finish it off with some Excellent ones. Beefy thinks Ings will happen late in the window - that's excite some on here. I'm not trying to be a happy clapper here, just think most of the reactions have been harsh. Just one final point on this: Koeman has a reputation of working well with and bringing through youngsters. That I believe is The Southampton Way, according to Me Cortese. Maybe the club still any that approach even though he has gone.
