When a player underachieves at the end of a season can can we reduce the terms of his contract? Give in to this sort of thing and before you know it you'll end up having to pay £50 to watch a match. I've a feeling this is an agent 'at work' again but in all honesty some players need to get real and be thankful of the lifesyle they have.
They want more though. They want a bigger club, bigger wage. That's football now, that's what clubs and managers have to work with unfortunately.
That's not a modern football thing, players always wanted more money, just like all humans. Difference is that now the money their product earns is a lot higher than before.
Firstly, the club said they would be sitting down with him to negotiate a new contract. Maybe they have and we don't know about it. But if they haven't, I would say that would be considered "****ing him about". Secondly, hopefully we are in the EPL for a much longer stay this time and after the season he had, he is a player we need to keep IMO and I think the way he played, he deserves an extra incentive. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.
We do this far too much. It happened to Chester when he was our best player and one of the lowest paid, and it happened to Dawson when he was promised a one-year deal but it was put off when Barmby was sacked and he didn't know whether to plan a testimonial or find another club. As soon as Bruce came in he insisted they sort that one out asap.
I enjoyed Curtis's interview at Humberside airport, especially when he described the trip as "monumentous". Bravo.
I noticed that, it is indeed splendid when Hull City AFC players make up their own words. There's not nearly enough made up words in football nowadays.
Apparently, FourFourTwo magazine are cited by the OED as the original use of about 20 different words, some football related like 'fullback' but some are absolutely irrelevant.
Monumentous has been in recorded use since 1896 (apparently), so I am not sure that can claim that one. It is, of course, a portmanteau word, combining 'monumental' and 'momentous'!
Did i say it was a "modern football thing" ? And as for the rest of this ^ Yes i know . Maybe you misunderstood ?
