This is a sensible approach. Rather than huge areas of the stadium empty, it will concentrate people together. As much as a lot of us are looking forwards to seeing a first European game at home, I doubt very much if it would appeal to the majority. With the greatest respect to Trencin, they are not a huge pull for a lot of fans, and any other club in England would struggle to fill the ground too. The clubs doing everything it can to maximise the numbers with cheap tickets etc but yeah, leave the South out unless it's needed. Unreserved is a good idea too.
Perhaps some enthusiasm/publicity/ sharp marketing from the club of this historic occasion may entice a few more thousand in?
Great chance for the movers to grab there relevant seat in the North Stand Sure looking forward to the home leg
I've yet to see it advertised anywhere in the city. The ticket pricing is spot on but if people don't know they might as well be £50 each. Summers night, kids off school, cheap tickets, sit where you like, first ever competitive European match, big occasion for the city, new players on show, City fans behind the North Stand goal for the first time.........tell you what let's keep it all low key and don't tell anyone. I remember City pulling in 34,000 plus at this time of the year for the Watney Cup. The city was buzzing because we'd just appointed a new player manager from a First Division club (Terry Neil). This season we've spent over £30million on players and were still sharing the back pages and air time with a non league football club, Scunthorpe, and two rugby league clubs who are third and fourth from bottom of their league.
If we do get into group stages they need to be in all the schools pushing discount tickets and do it right for once
Speaking of this. We're a Hull FC Fanbassador club. We get discounted tickets to the games, points for tickets/passes bought which result in prizes for the school and regularly meet with somebody from the club. In principal it's a fantastic idea. The drawback is, even with the discount, it's still cheaper for our kids to go to some City games (£1/£2 a game rather than £5 we get the FC tickets at).
Tickets for the home leg of Hull City’s Europa League tie with FK AS TrenčÃn will be on sale from Thursday (31st July) online and from Tiger Leisure priced at £10 Adults and £5 Concessions. Additionally, anyone who purchases a ticket before Monday lunchtime (4th August) will also receive a commemorative programme for the club's first ever European tie. Tickets for the fixture are unreserved with seating available in the Smith & Nephew North Stand, the Ideal Boilers East Stand and the Cranswick PLC West Stand. The MKM South Stand will be opened should there be a demand for tickets. The prices of the tickets will rise to £15 Adults but remain £5 Concessions if purchased on the day of the game.
It really is unbelievable that with all the money in the game these days, league 1 players ( unproven kid ) worth 2.5 million, mid level players earning 20, 30, 40 thousand a week we can't find a few grand for an advertising campaign. Hull FC manage it so why can't City ?
Not had a chance to get on the ows today but would have expected them to email everyone and encourage them to come. First i have heard of it on here.
Why isn't this all over the HDM back page, on Look North, Sky Sports and plugged by the club on the radio stations at every opportunity? Instead we first get to hear about if tucked away on a fans forum. We are a Premier League club and we should have Premier League standard marketing.
Maybe after the first leg there will be. Even if there is, certain areas of pond life will still sneer and whine. That's you that is, if that wasn't clear. Its historic for the group of fans who have been around a long time, the ones that did Torquay on a wet Tuesday etc. For the newer fans, or the more casual fans, it's not as big a deal. I get that. Its also still holiday time, so people are away. Which is why I won't be throwing myself into hysterical fits when we don't sell out.
