24 hours ago, Lovren and Chambers had just left, and Schneiderlin and Jay Rod were heavily linked to Spurs, some saying deals already agreed. Kreuger has done several interviews today and reiterated that neither Schneiderlin and Jay are for sale, and they will be a core part of our team next year. From my previous posts you can probably tell I'm not the biggest Ralph fan, but having taken a step back and analysed the situation we are in I have to say he's done well to come out and do these interviews with the pressure he and the board are under. The fact that he's categorically said two key players are not for sale, and also assured us funds will be reinvested into the team has filled me with slightly more confidence. I'm cautiously choosing to believe what he says for now, seeing as his statements have been so bold it would be difficult for him to go back on. I just wanted to know how everyone else is feeling now we have a little more clarity? Do we believe Kreuger? Are we happy with the position we are in, given the promises that have been made? Sorry mods for another thread I just thought this could be a good place for a little more discussion, and not so much rumours or news.
I will wait and see as talk is cheap as we have seen previously with statements given by RK and LR only to be shown to be nothing but hot air by the clubs actions Time will tell
I'm just going to wait until the start of the season to see what players we have or haven't got. I'm not going to believe anything until I can see it with my own eyes
We will see on judgement day as he says 1st September. Slightly more hopeful but we need a couple of good signings to steady everyones nerves asap
I feel annoyed that there are still some negative disbelievers out there that think they have a right to speak on my behalf, the Jury is still out until I see some results, but I am not going to criticise people when I am still not in full knowledge of all of the facts, I feel slightly more confident than earlier today. Correction: Not any longer, back to depression mode again.
Feel like I was hurtling down a mountain towards a precipice on a metal tray, when I unexpectedly stopped on a flat bit.
Talk is pretty cheap, but that was a pretty definitive set of comments from Ralph. I will do as he asked, and wait until September the 1st. I've always been pretty adamant they weren't trying to purposefully tear the team apart.
I'm with you, that's all we can do now. Hopefully we'll have a more positive looking situation on September 1st, then this summer won't have been the complete disaster it promised to be a few days ago.
Well my take on it is , we have sold 2 young fullbacks with just over 50 appearances for the club combined for over 50 million , a centre half that played 31 games and didn't want to stay and made 12 million profit a centre forward going to his home club at end of his career and was starting to used less , and a midfield player who has been at the club for over 10 and had 1 good season in the premiership but by all accounts was starting to get too big for his boots so could have caused dressing room problems for Koeman and stated he wanted out and we got an overvalued price for him too , if I were an incoming manager and were given nearly 100 million to make my own team with I think I would be pretty damn happy with the situation , we need to support the club not individual players , judge them on there effort ,style of play and results and most of all show that they want to be in the Saints shirt and wear with pride like I have for 50 years
Don't know what to believe anymore. We still don't know what the situation is with Rodriguez and Schneiderlin, are they pushing for moves and we are saying no? In that case I'm still not wildly optimistic, and the cynic in me thinks this statement could be to steady the ship whilst we get moves over the line for targets that could be faltering due to our situation. Both of these players are on twitter, will be interesting if they come out with a positive comment and say they are staying, I'm betting that they don't.
The heat of the moment is a dangerous thing. I was just as angry as everyone else at Chambers etc being sold the other day. However with a few steps back you realise we got good deals and we haven't been bent over by the board, finance-wise, anyway. It's disappointing to lose so many players but with some additions I'm certain of at least survival. That said if Schneiderlin and Jay are sold now I'll be the first at Kreuger's house with a pitchfork and fire
I feel like it was a good statement to make. But then again, I have thought after a couple of speeches given by board members this summer.
