They'll sell whether they win or not, or so I'm told. Just a case of them wanting to secure prize money for UCL group stages + TV revenue + extra ticket income. They need it badly this year, what with the lack of Rangers, Hearts or Hibs.
Just had a crazy thought. Forster for Boruc swap deal. This one will happen for exactly the same reason as we are losing players to Arsenal.
With the amount knocking around atm we could probably get him with what we find down the back of the hospitality room sofa
would love for the club to make a move for konoplyanka now with Rodriguez certain to go. Feel he would interchange well with Tadic. 13.5 mil euro release clause.
I must say, I still struggle with blaming Poch - I don't really care if he offered them 25 vestal virgins and a pot of gold delivered on the back of a unicorn last March, they can still make their own minds up, surely? He's Mauricio Pochettino, not Derren Brown.....
Not sure if the club is to blame but I can't sleep. Trying to justify all this selling and not panic and this is the best I can do... 1. I've not been disappointed with the fee we've received for any individual sold. Negotiations haven't gone badly in that sense. 2. We are still being linked with good players, and certainly doesn't look like RK has hit the panic button yet and settled for less just to get numbers 3. It's a world cup year - it's been proven that taking your time in terms of transfers is the best policy 4. Squads around us (or at least around where we finished last year) are starting to look a little saturated, so we are still an attractive proposition for someone looking to play first team premiership football - and at a club with excellent facilities and a fine recent track record. 5. there are still some good players at the club! Get the best out of Clyne, Wanyama, Cork, JWP, Davis, Ramirez, Tadic and Pelle and we will be OK! Besides the possible sale of the club, the obvious worry now is lack of leadership, team spirit and morale. To this end, I think a player like Clasie is a must. good age, a leader, knows the system and loves RK - would be a fantastic addition if/when MS leaves us (I know this position will not be seen as a priority for many but in terms of the benefit to both the 1st team and the squad he'd be one I'd love us to to go all out for) A leader at centre back is also absolutely vital and not sure Van Dijk is that man. He'd be a welcome addition to the squad but I think the squad needs a Vlaar or similar. some one to come straight in, do a job and organize things. RK will know this better than anyone, of course, and I like to think we will be in a far better place this time next month.
Why did we offer 3.5m for Forster....even I'd call that derisory. . If we'd gone in high enough, they wouldn't be dithering about being in the CL. Tight bastards...you'd almost think we didn't want to sign players #conspiracy theory
