I know I know, not many, if any, of you give a toss about Chelsea Ladies FC even now they are part of the Roman Empire (unlike West Ham Ladies(managed now by Julian Dicks), probably cos Messrs Gold and Sullivan think woman are only for photographing nude).

Maybe because I love playing and watching football I do follow the Ladies team as well. Maybe because I've been a coach and trainer all my life I get enthusiastic about the youth teams and the ladies. I even managed and coached a youth side in Brixton for a brief time.

We have got some real talent in the ladies team this season and are second in the table. Ji So-Yun and Yuki Ogimi are a class apart and have World wide following. Also the real upcoming talent of Jackie Groenen.

You got ten minutes? Then take a look at some of the match highlights. Also the 5 min doc on Eni Aluko shows that it isn't like the hyperpaid world of men's football. In fact one current England International and Liverpool player was homeless for many years, never telling anyone, but still paying for her own kits and representing her country.

As in so many other sports, women are underated as footballers, and most, if not all, play simply for the love of the game. I watched the Aussie Womens golf open last year, best golf I ever saw. More accurate than the men, better touch, better putters. Incredible talent, and nearly all play with a smile.
I wish our Ladies all the best and hope others get behind them and ask the Club to raise their profile. more interviews and highlights on CTV for starters.

I take a lot of interest in the fortunes of Chelsea Ladies. The magazine has good coverage and CTV cover them from time to time and I always watch. The only thing I'd like to see is the massive gap between us and the gooners ladies reduced!

I think the plan is to expand the WSL by not having any relegations until Div 1 has 20 teams.

Very good post Dfer and good to see the Ladies team getting some positive feedback from the fella's on here, all too often women footballers are ridiculed, and often when browsing on here I have to bite my tongue and hold back when seeing some of the posts on this forum. Hopefully in the not to distant future women's football will get a much bigger profile then it can really take off
