Chambers is Jenkinson's replacement who will either be sold or loaned. If (when) Vermaelen leaves we'll hopefully see a more experienced replacement

This signing isn't a vermaelen replacement so I don't know why you think it's opened the door for a verm deal to be done. As krone says, if the verminator is off we hope to see a more established backup come in for him.

Chambers is signed as we needed more depth across the back line.
