Mr memory man would struggle to remember a better squad then this!

 

For the people who don't think we need a central defender.

Bruce seems to think we need 2 central defenders because he has been trailing Maguire for a while and was also chasing Lescott and Dawson at the same time.

If we are to push on as a team and continually better ourselves then some of the players like Bruce and McShane are going to have to move on. They have given us a great service but to be a sustainable team in the league we need better players than them. They are okay squad/back up players but had we not been in Europe this year then I suspect McShane and or Bruce would have been on their way.

Chester - Was pretty injury prone last year and there is nothing to say he won't be this year.
Davies - Great
Bruce - Had some good games last year but in reality not good enough for this level. Leeds apparently after him. Slightly injury prone.
Fig - There is a really good player in there sometimes but there is no telling whether he could be as awful as he was last season, this season.
McShane - Cult status with the club but injury prone and again in reality not goo enough at this level.

 

Chester was not injury prone last season. He picked up a hamstring at SJP and was kept on the pitch for 5 mins after the injury which exacerbated the problem. Then he was rushed back before he was ready and to a lesser degree the injury recurred. He is NOT injury prone.

Personally as probably the only person on here to see him half a dozen times I'd pass on him but I'll bow to Brucey on this one.

I'm really not very happy with the Maguire signing. Apart from the fact he's younger than Mcshane, Bruce and Figs, is he better than them ?

 

Every pic of Maguire I've seen, his mouth's hanging open.

I do hope he's not as gormless as he looks....

 

Thinking about it Kempes and he's a bit of SB as a player about him. He's definitely better in the air and attacking the ball than those 3. Just not that mobile struggles on the turn.

 

So you're saying that Maguire came from Sheffield to Hull for a medical but Robertson came from Dundee to Burton (closer to Sheffield than Hull) for a medical? Sounds a bit odd.

 

Exactly...this lack of pace bullshit works both ways. I guarantee he knocks a few big centre forwards off their feet for us...can Davies or Chester do that? I know McShane can.

 

If he plays in a back 3 with two wing backs beside him, all of which are mobile, I don't see it as a problem.

We've doggedly pursued him, he must have a fair bit to get excited about.

He'll be fine.

Despite Hull statement made earlier today, Nigel Clough confirms #SUFC accepted a new offer for Harry Maguire this morning.
