If that's not being bitter I'm not sure what it is. SouthAmpton to Liverpool is a monumental step up, and the ones who left made the right career move. I Suggest you read what Lovren had to say about the move.
I can understand why Saints fans are pissed tbf. I hate it when players leave us for 'better things' and the rhetoric they come out with as they leave - especially to another premiership team. Plus it looks like they're falling apart atm.
How can people claim not to be bitter when they have nicknames for ex-players like Liarllana Southampton's ownership has changed massively since the previous owner died. The kids who now run the club want it to be more of a business than a football team and want money to be coming in (or at least the club being sustainable) rather than pouring money in like Liebherr did, allowing Cortese to do what he wanted. Cortese spent a lot on the youth systems and infrastructure as well as player wages and large bonuses. The kids came, checked the finances and wanted to cut back. They removed Cortese from his job after a while and they also removed some of the bonuses to be received from the first team which isn't exactly going to improve morale. They also appointed a manager on the premise of running on a shoe-string budget. If you were an ambitious and talented player, as many of the Saints first team showed to be last season, then you're faced with a few concerns: the owners reluctance to invest further in the squad so you have to wait for talent to come through rather than push on from the previous successful season, a talented manager just left, big pay reductions through limited bonuses and after all that, because of your great season, you've got bigger clubs (even moderately at times) sniffing around who are ambitious. Call players liars or mercenaries all you want, the choices aren't exactly difficult all things considered. It's not the players you should be bitter at, it's the owners.
True, but we're playing at the highest level this season so there's nowhere else to go for 'better things' (apart from Barcelona and other big European teams). Can we say that Suarez left for better things, possibly, he didn't or couldn't say that as we're in the CL and were domestic runners up but right now Barca do represent better things in a lot of ways. I see where the Saints fans are coming from as they have high aspirations but to say that St Mary's is the pinnacle would be ridiculous currently. It's all about expectations.
Its as simple as this...... At Liverpool they will be paid a heck of a lot more money They will get to play in the Champions League (guaranteed for one season atleast) They will have a higher chance of winning trophies. There really isnt much more to say.
We were going to sign all the Southampton players then we realised how low they finished and though better of it.
yeah even uir has to realize that SOME players are good and the majority are bad. after all once utd lost the few good un they had the trash left f'd them right up.
which by definition means your likely to do just as well next season. The sums dont lie. Liverpool - Suarez + Southampton =
i reckon the bookies will offer 1/1000 for that one. offer evens and you'd be looking at the GDP of the uk being bet on 0-0. every bookies would be closed overnight.
So you just bought their most inexperienced player for £27m and then had him get totally overshadowed by someone you bought 2 years ago for nothing
