It's £8 million mate, Newcastle won't be risking that on a player who's just failed a medical with another PL side.
They did with Ba, granted we didn't part with 8m cash but agents fees were said to be the best part of 3m and if you then add that to the 50k wages he was on then the deal wasn't cheap. I think him failing the medical is exactly the kind of reason we would go after him. It would be right up Mike's street to say "we'll take him but only if you knock a couple million off the fee due to problems with the medical". Ashley loves taking a gamble, selling Carroll and Cabaye with no replacements. Signing Ben Arfa permanently when he was out for the season with the hope of him making a full recovery etc. I've already said that I'll doubt we'll get him but that won't be because of the medical. We signed Marevaux after he failed a medical with Liverpool (bad decision from us because he's been poor) but it just shows that anything that might knock some cash off the price of a deal definitely interests our chubby owner.
Depends on Remy really, but I'd tend to agree with you that the most likely outcome is that he'll now stay at QPR.
Annoying, as with the CB pairing they have, Remy up top could see them being close to decent. I dislike QPR, well, I dislike what QPR have become, used to be a canny club back a few years.
10 years ago there'd have been a few names I could give you but now I don't think there is anyone. You have Suarez with his biting, RVP and Remy with rape allegations, Rooney with the brothel, Gerrard beating up a DJ, Giggs bedding his sister in-law, the list is endless. My point is, these players are going to get a contract at a top club, most likely a premier league rival. If they're going to be banging in goals or putting in top performances I'd rather it be for Newcastle than one of our rivals. It doesn't mean I approve of their behaviour, crimes, morals etc and if anything it's a sad state of affairs that as football fans we adore men that have done all of the above just because they rock up at 3pm on a Saturday, wear our colours and kick a ball about. Morality simply doesn't have a place in premier league football anymore IMO. It's a business now and the money is too important to owners, managers, players and agents. If Adam Johnson dives to win a last minute penalty against us to win you the game, or punches the ball in the net intentionally you lot would want to knight the lad and as a Newcastle fan I'd be the same if the situation was reversed. I just think people only complain about the spirit of the game, diving and the lack of morals in the game when it's gone against their team. If newcastle win due to one of our players cheating I'm not out on a Saturday night racked with guilt, I'm getting pissed up because I'm overjoyed we've won. However, if we've lost due to some form of cheating I'm normally sat watching match of the day shouting abuse at the TV. Probably about as honest an answer as i can give
I've heard that Liverpool have found a problem with Remy's heart during the medical. I hope that he is OK..
I'm interested to know whether age and the amount of physical stress that the heart goes through can make the defect worse. I mean it's not like Remy is merely a keyboard warrior! The important thing for use regarding this is the effect on the Borini transfer. Do Liverpool have a backup plan or will they keep Borini?
