Well personally, when one of the Tiger Nation is in trouble, the common bond between us a supporters of Hull City seems to be at its strongest. For most of us, the fact is that we did not choose to be Hull City fans, it is part of us and we have grown up as nothing other. But Ellewoods made a choice and he has struck me with the strength of his support even though it may be limited because of where he lives, he is now part of the Tiger Nation and I feel that we should do something to help, even if it only amounts to enabling him to purchase some more chickens.

I would like to propose that we first of all see what Ellewoods needs and secondly use whatever means we can to try to help.

I havent felt like posting again but I thought I should. Thanks for the wishes, I dont need any help its nice of people to offer but I got plenty of relatives and such so dont worry about me. I was at the WBA game when it started so I wasnt there but it started because some idiot was off roading in the canyon below my house in a jeep and set the grass under it on fire. My address is 1300 Sand Ridge so it really sucks when they name the fire the Sand Ridge Fire. Here is a photo we took at the police blockade when we tried to get back to the house. My house is exactly where the smoke is coming from.

My girls uncle heard about the fire when it started and immediately took an old mining road he knew of to get past the police blockades and through the fire to save all my animals he could. He had to give up when the flames got to my pine trees, he said the fire was at least a hundred feet higher than my pines which means the fire was about 250-300 feet tall on my property as my ponderosa pines are 150 feet tall. Last he saw the fire it was about 100 feet from my house, he said he didnt see how they could save it. We were listening to the fire department bandwidth when he was there and we minuets after he left we heard them order a plane load of fire ******ant on my roof. They were listing the address so it was def my house, they also hit my roof with 3 helicopters. It would be really hard to imagine that they could have saved my house. They had a video of one house being blown up by a propane tank going off and it was hard to tell if it was my house. Most of my close neighbors houses burned down while news cameras filled them. None of the videos actually show my house burning down, but certainly all my outbuildings are gone as they were all in the trees to provide shade for my animals. A lot of my neighbors are poor and dont have fire insurance so its going to be real hard on them, we do so it shouldnt be a problem for us.

Here is a photo of the smoke coming from beyond my property line when he got to my house, he didnt take a photo of the fire in over my trees because he was in a real rush to get out of there.

This is a link to the fire command centers radio wave if you feel like listening.

The twitter tag if you feel like seeing photos is #Sandfire

From listening to them at least 30 homes are gone, its hard to tell because soon as they think they cant save one they just abandon the fire line there. So the official count is only 10 homes but they are not actually counting most of the homes that they are losing. There are over 2,000 firefighters on my street right now, 156 fire trucks, 3 dozen bulldozers, 10 airplanes and 10 helicopters. They also taken all the fire certified prisoners from Folsom Prison and the big prison near Stockton to the fire and they are making breaks with shovels and picks. As of early yesterday it had burned 4,000 acres, so I would think it will be up to 7-8,000 by the next update in about 5 hours. If it crosses the next road it will get into 2 of the largest US national forests which go all the way to Tahoe and the Cali border with Nevada so the fire has a real chance to become massive. The fire is really multiple fires that are racing up canyons. This is a video of part of the fire that is in the grass and hasnt gotten into the trees. In the first few seconds of the video you will see a massive column of smoke over a ridge. That smoke is coming directly from where my place is, after that the video is from a section that is about 4 miles from my house.

Bloody hell, that looks massive man.

Hoping that they are able to stop it in its tracks.

And that you are able to get your stuff sorted out.

    Good luck.

Terrible that the cause was something so avoidable, a real kick in the nuts. Got my fingers crossed for your stuff, hopefully that plane and helicopter arrived in time to limit the damage to external and your meaningful possessions inside can be salvaged.

Looked at some news reports and one of them said they estimate the fire will be contained on August 4th. Over a week, mental.

Respect to all those firefighters, I've seen on the news and in documentaries how quickly things can change and how dangerous it is fighting these forest fires. Glad I'm not in their boots.

    Glad that you have insurance.

One of the differences between the UK and USA is that we have a welfare state. So to a certain extent we are cushioned when things go wrong.

You will rebuild your farm Ellewoods AND I bet it will be even better then it was.

Not much comfort right now but believe me a positive will come out of this bloody horrible negative.

All the best and as Omega Man says if there's anything we can do just say

Hopefully knowing that whatever else we might argue about on here, you should also know that there's an immense feeling of love and concern for you and your family Elle, so please, when you can, keep us updated.

Good luck and fingers crossed your place isn't a total write off.

Damn Ellewoods....thats awful mate!! I'm so sorry for you and your family. Just read your email so am late in replying. We've been watching the fires spreading because my daughter and her kids live in Oregon....fortunately they are on the west (ocean) side of the mountains where its not so bad.

I just hope you and your family and animals are safe and that your home by some miracle has survived. If you all need a place to stay I have a nice big place on six acres by the ocean in BC, just over the border, and you are very welcome to come here for as long as you need to get things sorted out. We even have a nice big screen to watch Hull City games live on!!! Let me know if I can help in any way. All the best to you and yours....we'll be praying for you mate!!

A neighbor called us a few hours ago and told us of a back road that had a cop who was being cool and letting people in to see their homes. We got in. Crazy enough my place is fine. My girls uncle must have thought my property was farther into the trees than it is bc they held the fire in the trees to what seemed to me a few hundred feet of my property line. I could see where they dropped the fire reppelant on my house. I could also see where they drove fire trucks all through my place but they saved everything, even my chicken coop and goat shed in the trees. My animals that escaped and ran off from my girls uncle had even come back and were hanging out in their paddock. There are insane amounts of ash and burnt leaves everywhere, on my roof, in my fields etc but the fire fighters who defended my place put them all out. I think it might have been the prisoners because about 30 of them were asleep in the shade of some trees on the place next to mine. Lots of places we drove by weren't so lucky obviously but they did a hell of a job saving tons of houses we did drive past. Crazy weekend for sure.
