Think legally they can't as Dodd & Willo have taken the club to court for unfair dismissal? Unless it's been settled out of court with an agreement from both sides to never speak publically about it, then it could drag on for months.
Presumably some of the money will be needed to pay the high wages that we will have to pay to attract players...the price is only part of how much a deal costs. Even Maurinho has said that Shaw's wages would cripple Chelsea.
But sacking a coach that is largely responsible for bringing through our youth seems strange. Since this happened we have sold quite a few players & if reports are correct others are on they way too. Jason has been a massive part of this clubs history, A player, a coach, a manager. Why would a club icon be fired in such a way?
Who's asking what? And what are you going to say? It's a great oppportunity to let our management, Arse/Pool/Spuds et al and the general public know how we feel...
I might be talking out of my arse and I'm not suggesting it is a good idea but... could selling all these players for (lets be honest) far more than they are worth whilst knowing that we should be able to replace them with equal or better quality for less money, maybe be the boards way of getting a good head start in the Financial fair play. Maximize profits early on. Take one on the chin for a season, believing even with a new squad that needs to gel, we should be good enough not to get relegated (presuming we are ever signing anyone else ) Then leaving us in a better position going forward as we will be one of only a few if indeed any at all that end the year making a profit. I genuinely don't know how it works, someone else on here does, I'm sure but it does look like we are taking full advantage of how overly hyped our players have got over the last year, due to us becoming "everyone's favorite second team". I don't want to see these players go but everytime we have sold someone, we have robbed the buyer blind.
If we come out the other side with a decent team who have a good season, then the board has acted brilliantly. The proof will be seen at the end of the season. I'm not happy, but I am also not in despair...we aren't selling players and buying no hopers. I just wish we were buying first and holding onto players if we don't get replacements...risky to sell first.
People can talk about "well, this was inevitable", but a club in no financial peril likely selling eight (ugh, or more) of its best players in a single summer is absolutely unprecedented. Having damned near the entire first team demanding to be transferred is not in any sense normal. I don't know whether Liebherr is looking to pocket a large part of the money from this summer and then sell thereafter (though I'd suggest that's the simplest answer), or whether this is the result of staggering incompetence, or Cortese is a mind-controlling supervillain. But this is so far beyond the normal operations of a mid-table club that it's hard to believe that this ship is going to be easily steadied.
We should also consider the wages we have saved in selling these players though. I imagine Lambert, Lallana and Lovren were some of the biggest earners in the team. Our budget for the year should have included these, so there should now be some room to offer that amount of wages to new signings without having to dip into the transfer fees received (if that makes sense).
Schad you are correct. The way I am looking at this, is now fairly simple: it's a new beginning. I'm a filled with excitement, albeit nervous excitement, at the thought of what is around the corner. How ever many people go now, it is already going to be like a new team and so that is how I will be viewing it. I can't ever recall a time when a team has changed so may personnel. We could conceivably have only one, two or three players starting the first game who could be considered first 11 at the end of the season. It a new era, time to look forward with hope, excitement and no small amount of intrepidation.
I'd be excited if I had any confidence in the competence or motives of our leadership, but that has long since passed. I think that we'll sign some exciting players, sure, but it's hard to imagine that our current management has it in them to take this team anywhere meaningful (in a positive sense, at least). Now, if this is a prelude to a sale? That I could get excited about, even with the absolute minefield that is the pool of prospective owners.
Of course. However, it's a massive hill to climb at this point; I don't like them, I don't trust them, I don't think they have the slightest idea what they're doing.
It'd take an awful lot for the board to win the fans back now. To get everyone back on side, they need to make a hell of a load more signings and have pretty much every single one of them be a success. So... good luck.

Don't tell me....he will be telling Ben Smith how no one would have left if he had still been at the helm, and we would have signed Mata and Messi.
