I'm sure nearly all QPR fans know of and haven't eaten at A.Cookes Pie and Mash shop on Goldhawk Road. Well unfortunately they've finally had to cave in from pressure from the council and property developers who want to regenerate the Sheperds Bush Market. They will still be open for a while and I'm not sure if they do intend to try and find other premises, but just the fact it's closing down at it's present spot will be a little bit of history disappearing from the Bush. But this got me thinking, we all know how god awful the catering is at Loftus Road, so it got me thinking, why not get A.Cookes to do pie and mash at Loftus Road. In catering terms, Pie and Mash is so easy to produce on mass and I'm sure it would prove very popular, what do you think? I've spoken with A.Cookes and they said they'd be delighted to do it. What does everyone think? Would you like to see Pie and Mash served at Loftus Road?
I've been going to Cooke's for well over 50 years man and boy and this is bordering on sacrilege for us who are native to the Bush. I like the idea of having pie and mash in the ground but I just don't see how it would work given that the key ingredient is the liquor. Definitely a fork, spoon and table job for which there simply is no room (certainly not in the Ellerslie where I sit). Perhaps the owners can hang on for the new stadium...
Sad to hear this, local councils seem intent on taking away something some of us consider tradition down the bush.
Did a little training there years ago as worked in one in Hastings before the owner got a hit greedy. Liquor mmmmm lush I may have to knock up a batch when I have a bit of time.
the council are knocking down the whole parade of shops to build another god awful, identikit set of flats. they've got no vision and no understanding of the character of the area. i hate the way the council gets pound signs in its eyes the first time a developer shows them something a bit 'shiny'. twits the lot of them.
