This is how the squad is shaping up I think a quality centre half a central midfielder and a striker utilising our loan spots and we have a very strong looking squad. Here is what I would go with. Any thoughts? Mcgregor Rosie Chester Davies Robertson Snodgrass Huddlestone Livermore Brady Long Jelavic Subs: Harper, Bruce, Elmo, Myler, Ince, Aluko, Sagbo. Rest of squad: Jak, Townsend Mcshane, Figgy, Dudgeon, Boyd, Quinn, Ter Horst, Jahraldo Martin.
As a pure RB I'd take Rosie every time but as a wing back, SB will always give Elmo the nod over him. I think it's interesting as to whether SB perceives wingers like Snodgers and Ince to be capable of playing a wing back role. If not, we might see a lot more 4-4-2 this season.
We could field 2 decent 4-4-2 sides. McGregor, Elmo Davies Chester Fig Snodgrass Livermore Huddleston Brady Long Aluko Jak/Harper Rosenior McShane Bruce Dudgeon Ince Meyler Quinn Boyd Jelavic Sagbo Add to that promising youngsters like CJM, Ter Horst, Townsend and the two potential new boys. The future's bright.
Completely agree OLM. Also cant see Bruce leaving Ince on the bench. So I'd expect our opening day line up to be McGregor Rosie Chester Davies Robertson Ince Livermore Huddlestone Snodgrass Jelavic Long Subs : Jakupovic McShane Brady Elmo Meyler Aluko Sagbo Rest : Harper, Bruce, Figgy, Dudgeon, Quinn, Boyd, Loan out : Townsend, Ter Horst, JM, Proschwitz (sell?)
442 makes more sense but 352 hardly doing us any harm and it is Brucies fave, dont think we`ll see all our best 11 on the pitch together whilst we in europe anyhow...not till we out of course then 442 makes sense again.
It's fantastic how much stronger that squad is than the one that stayed up comfortably last season, and we will hopefully have a couple more additions as well
I posted this on another thread but it is more appropriate to put it on here. Here's our squad of 25 in 1998/99 - a slight difference in quality 16 years later.... http://www.worldfootball.net/teams/hull-city/1999/2/
Almost nobody mentioning Meyler for a starting place. A lot of people (inc. me) preferred him over Thudd/Livermore towards the end of last season.
Can't see Brucie picking him ahead of Thudd or Jake who he just paid £8m for. I'd expect him to be the other central mid in a 3-5-2 against tougher teams with maybe a more attacking player like Ince or Snodgrass in behind the 2 strikers against lower sides.
