3.15 Ascot- Horsted Keynes -8/1 ew Was given a typical spencer ride lto at the royal meeting but finished like a train and was IMO the unluckiest horse that meeting. Remarkably he is still on the same mark, is drawn on nr the rails and has the mr reliable Jim Crowley on board so you know he wi be given an honest, decent ride
1.30 Ascot- Kodi Bear - 2/1 I'm sure went in to most peoples notebook after his Coventry fifth run, has no where to go and will be united by the stiffer test should take all the beating
SECRET LIAISON York 5:15 11-2 is mine for tomorrow. Another two year old to have a close look at is CRAFTY CHOICE 7:15 Salisbury who will improve bundles from a Windsor debut! Looking forward to a spanking KG where I have a lumpy bet on the filly but really just want to see a quality race!
Whats your selection for the 1:50 at York Stick? Given that it is the bonus race from Tiggy Wiggy last week.
Pricewise >Ascot 240 Moohaarib, 315 Watchable + Don't Call Me, 350 Eagle Top >York 330 Line Of Reason
My KG thoughts are on the relevant thread but to paraphrase myself. Eagle Top is a great each way bet when it was 8/1.
Nice reminder hawkeye! I would concentrate on the 3yos as they have a better record in this than their elders. Its tight between the three but MARACUJA just shades it for me. Did it a shade cosily last time, up 6lb but value for that I would say! Good luck with your bonus bets fellas
Pricewise picking Eagle Top was a certainty, was meaning to get on this afternoon to post that in advance! Price ruined now. Still undecided on the race but I'm chuffed to have narrowed it down to 4 out of the 8 Telescope- big performance last time but has disappointed more than not. Comparisons to Harbinger but could also be a Sea Moon. Taghrooda- getting lumps of weight. Form looks dubious but 'could be anything'. Big weight pull Eagle Top- another getting weight. Most unexposed in field and looks strong stayer but has he the turn of foot? Magician- strangely unheralded yet has arguably the strongest form shown and should prefer this trip This race is very trappy but I am leaning towards Telescope especially he's getting an attractive price.
Cheers. Have done Maracuja whilst it is 4/1, hopefully another free bet after! I only knew because i got an email from them earlier.
I am expecting that Paul Hanagan will be having a good day at Ascot. He has two very good chances in the first two contests on Hamdan Al Maktoum’s Muhaarar (Charlie Hills) and Muraaqaba (Mark Johnston), although neither of them is likely to be starting at fantastic odds. His chances of an instant hat-trick do not look so hot on Roger Varian’s Kafeel, odds on winner of a three-runner Ffos Las handicap, where Charlie Appleby’s Billingsgate looks an excellent chance for William Buick. Bypassing the cavalry charge brings us to the feature event where I am hopeful that Hanagan can complete his hat-trick on the Oaks winner Taghrooda, although it will be no great shock if Buick completes a double on Eagle Top. I note from the Timeform ratings that appeared on the ‘other’ thread that the filly has a few pounds to find. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm for the Ladies’ Race, unless I can get Hayley Moore’s phone number. With any luck I will not be involved in the getting out stakes as none of the runners have won over the trip and Ed Dunlop’s top weight was beaten far enough at Royal Ascot over course and distance to put me off.
Totally with you on that one, I was there that day and he was travelling so well, but good old Frank Spencer left it too late. Think the owners and trainer will get some compensation tomorrow.
Not really he has won on the AW when the going was standard/ slow, has the breeding to go further so stamina worries aren't a doubt if the ground goes slightly softer which I can only see it quickening up come of the off time unless the heavens open all night
Clare Balding has a busy 24hrs you can't keep her off the TV on BBC for he commonwealth games and no doubt she will be at ascot tomorrow
Was going to unload a serious bet at Ascot but will hold fire on account of today's rain. Will see how the jockeys describe it after the first. I'd say a few can work out which horse I'm on about
I had some of that Bob, and very pleased at the going change And with Wooley re Horsten Keynes - slightly concerned about the going for him, but his last run was very telling. All of the TV bets: Asc 2-05 Muraaqaba 2-40 Baltic Brave 3-15 Horsted Keynes 3-50 Eagle Top York 1-50 Carnevale 2-20 Silent Bullet 2-55 Dandana 3-30 Muthmir A rare day in tomorrow, so hoping for some equine glory
I am just down the road from Ascot and we have had no rain since around 5pm and none scheduled for tomorrow but tempretures to reach a high of 28, I believe the ground will return back to at least good by 2pm tomorrow and there will be no excuses for either the firm nor soft lovers. We did not have enough today to make it proper soft but we had enough to ensure all the jar was taken out of it, this should leave it perfect by kick off time. As I have mentioned on the KG thread, I have backed Eagle Top but will not mind losing a small stake if Tagroodah were to win.
