I'm still not seeing this mobility. He drops back a fair bit but Rickie was everywhere on the field, not like he stood up front doing nothing.
Again though, I'm not seeing that. Just lugs himself ten yards deep every now and then before trudging back up front. He's yet to show any kind of movement or mobility to create any space against Championship defenders.
Just to add my view, Pellè is more mobile than Lambert and is holding the ball up well. Good at attacking crosses, too.
Haha people are just straight up making up the pace thing. He's got good attributes but no he is not quick or mobile.
Impressed with Pelle, JWP and Isgrove. Considering Gaston hasn't been back long he's not looked bad either. This game obviously shows us not a lot more than that we need more signings, especially in defence.
Isgrove is looking lively - looks like he is working hard to prove his worth. Hope he can step up and show a bit of quality as the opposition gets trickier to match.
Gaston looks like a man trying to make a good impression on the new boss, if he's given a decent chance I think he'll stay.
Gaston obviously enjoys running the show from the heart of the midfield, though I'm not sure I'd trust him to do that. He's still reckless with the ball at times inside our own half. Targget is a good left back, he knows his way on the pitch. But he's not fond of overlapping, not once was he ahead of Isgrove on the pitch. On the other hand, Clyne does it all the time, and that's how we scored in the end. Isgrove has a great work rate and is a willing runner, I'm still not sure how good is he exactly. But looks like he can be a squad player at least. JWP and Davis kept the game ticking. A bit disappointed because both of them are capable of doing more. Those two are also a bit lightweight, but not the worry, Cork and Wanyama will take care of that department. Although it seems to me JWP bulked up a bit. Tadić was a bit invisible, he hung the touchline and hasn't had much influence on the game. Pelle can really bring down those long balls, but other than that, not much from him either. Fonte and Yoshida were solid. Overall, it seems to me it will take more time for team to gel, players were dwelling on the ball too much and taking too much time trying to find their teammates, more automatisation is needed.
It's simply that he's quicker than what we're used to. Not sure how he'd compare in pace to someone like Giroud, who it'd be fair to compare him with. No one's going to argue he's as quick as Robben.
I agree. I'm just not sure whether he's the man to play that advanced central position for us. I won't certainly base my opinion solely on this match, just saying jury is still out.
