Even old New York was once New Amsterdam Why they changed it I can't say People just liked it better that way
People keep saying this, but I've not seen the list. Could you please provide a list for me with the football clubs with City in their name and Tigers in their name, cheers.
I said clubs, not football clubs. We are competing with other sports as well for the money available to be spent on watching sport.
Here is the list for teams with the name tigers or nicknamed the tigers. There are also variations of tigers like the Bengals that I have not included. Its clear that City is far more common than teams with the name tigers in them. It is actually fairly easy to find lists of every team with the name tigers, the name city isnt so easy but only going to a few lists of countries clubs and I have already found far more teams with the name City in them. I have stopped listing City team names after I surpassed teams with the name tigers. 32 teams. Balmain Tigers Claremont Tigers Eastern Suburbs Tigers Glenelg Tigers Hobart Tigers Melbourne Tigers Richmond Football Club Wests Tigers Bangladesh national cricket team Chittagong Tigers Medicine Hat Tigers Hamilton Tigers Calgary Tigers Dalhousie Tigers Campbellton Tigers Hull City A.F.C. Castleford Tigers Leicester Tigers Brighton Tigers Hanshin Tigers Frisk Tigers Kia Tigers Auburn Tigers Clemson Tigers Colorado College Tigers Detroit Tigers LSU Tigers Memphis Tigers Missouri Tigers Princeton Tigers RCC Tigers Towson Tigers Teams with the name city 33 teams Sporting Kansas City New York City FC Orlando City SC Kansas City Royals Oklahoma City Thunder Kansas City Chiefs HCAFC Leicester City Manchester City Swansea City Stoke City Birmingham City Cardiff City Norwich City Bradford City Bristol City Coventry City Exeter City York City Lincoln City Worcester City Oxford City Gloucester City Salisbury City Bath City St Albans City Chelmsford City Truro City Cambridge City Cork City Derry City Kilkenny City Dublin City
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...sists-didnt-mean-insult-US-tourists-2001.html Lampard issued a groveling apology for being a twat 13 years ago. Only another 12 apologies left! Article also says Club NY is owned by Man City.
32, is it? and that's exhaustive, is it? there are "city" teams in only a handful of countries in the world, the bulk of them naturally being in english speaking countries. take england or britain out of the equation and it changes greatly. indeed, the idea behind renaming our club was to appeal to foreign markets, so the fact that 80% of your city list is uk teams isn't really relevant as it still leaves the balance in the rest of the world in favour of tigers teams. i note that your list of tigers teams was largely drawn from a single wikipedia page, which is fair enough, but does ignore the fact that there are dozens of other countries out there that don't speak english and generally name their clubs using their own language. some examples: mexican football team: CF Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (known as tigres uanl for short), a dominican baseball team called Tigres del Licey, Tigres San Antonio. etc.
But the original statement was 'There are more clubs with Tigers in their name than City worldwide', you can't move the goalposts after the statement was proved to be wrong
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...t-of-footballs-breakthrough-into-the-USA.html Is the US the market to court rather than the Far East? Once we have conquered the local market, perhaps we should be looking west not east for growth.
The Americans have a colossal appetite for the game right now. Almost all the big boys are over there this summer, rather than China or wherever. That crowd for Utd/Real is astonishing.
